Tiger woods proclaimed his outrage with the fake pictures of his wife in the IN DUBLIN MAGAZINE (I have no scans but maybe someone else can help).

He's dippapointed not so much with the "Irish people" but the hurt that him and his wife feels about the pictures. Anyone else get a look just to tell us what he's talking about and if there really that bad or is he a bit over sensitive!!

Heres some links for those who haven't a clue what the OP is talking about:
    Sportinglife.com
    Fox news
    Hindustan Times

He has a right to be pissed off about it imo, I certainly would be.

I agree, would be well deserved. As would the sacking of the journalist as sjones said.

Bad taste even publishing such a thing at this time, and hopefully this is a f*ck up they'll pay dearly for.

sue the ****ers to bankruptcy, any "journalist" that didn't learn their lesson after the liam lawlor debacle doesn't deserve their job

    Get away.

That is one hell of a photoshop job. Come on, 'Bikini Model Doesn't get Kit Off' ......headline in itself.

Still, shouldn't go around publishing them in Irish newspapers, be they fake, or in the past, just because he's current news.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,792 ✭✭✭J.R.HARTLEY

it's not her at all silverfish, it's a playboy model, an american too. tigers wife is swedish, the only similarity is white women with blonde hair.

Not Totally Safe for work looks quite different to Kim Hiott as mentioned in snopes website. Check her nose which is a cute ski-jump shape.

Aha. Hmm. Then they aren't fake pictures.....they just aren't his wife.

That happened me once in the Meath Chronicle, there was a picture of me but they put someone elses name underneath. I won that Bonny Baby competition, dammit.

Don't worry Tiger, nobody in Dublin reads The Dubliner.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,742 ✭✭✭✭thebaz

i know this comes across as jealousy , which i am , but is Tiger not a tad over sensitive -- hes in the public domain, has a gorgeos wife , multi millionaire , worlds no. 1 golfer
But agree the Dubliner/In Dublin were wrong to publish

-- also i cant forgive the Americans for jumping up and down on the green in '99 when Olazabel had yet to put !!
    Go on Europe.

I agree above ... tiger should be well above this as this story is not a runner .... he should have seen it all before ... and after all he is possibly the worlds number one sports personality ... sure that would nt make his private life vulnerable to rif raf .... he should forget it and concentrate on the game

so a small syndication publishing this means the irish people are at fault?

Excellent, The Snobliner f**ks up royally. What a joy it is to see those undeservedly supremist cretins make such a balls-up. Three words for you SETTLE, SETTLE, SETTLE!!!:D

    .

Hes not pissed off with us. Just the magazine.

The OP should look for a job in a tabloid, he seems to have a knack of sensationalising headlines.....

Thats some nice research there by the Dubliner.

What a stupid frigging article to write.

    http://edition.cnn.com/2006/SPORT/golf/09/20/woods.wife.reut/index.html

'Ryder Cup filth for Ireland' I hope the Dubliner magazine appologised for this. How embarrasing. As if nothing else could go wrong at the Ryder Cup today!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,396 ✭✭✭✭Karoma

The did apologise. In fact, had you read the article you'd have known this:
In a statement issued later on Wednesday, publishers of The Dubliner acknowledged "the satirical article was inappropriate" and offered sincere apologies to Woods and other Ryder Cup players and their families.

You're embarrassed now? Never ever read an Evening Herald or, well, anything!

    ahh who cares?

its just a bunch of rich golfers playing golf

    lol they were being satirical?
We'll see how that stands up in court eh?

There's some kick up on the Joooooe Dufffeh show ATM, callers saying that our little nation is being slammed on US forums.
Oh yeah, the Ryder cup will be great for tourism eh? Sure come to Ireland, land of the 20 mile traffic jam, rip-off accomodation, ex-hurricanes and sh*tty jornalism.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,742 ✭✭✭✭thebaz

In general i think the Irish public will be a lot more hospitable than the jingoistic behaviour of '91 and '99 -- with the USA USA chants/rants , spitting at Mark James wife , and insulting abuse at Colin Montgomerie, players jumping on greens --
So go on Europe , lets show Mr Bush and the boys , whos boss on the golf course !

No , but his dad and mentor , George snr ., always shows up, and has been known to give a gung ho , pep talk !!!

Screw him tbh, so the Dubliner made a mistake. It's usually quite a good magazine and like Silverfish says, it's probably more of a headline that a bikini model hasn't done topless/glamour work at some stage in her career than if she had.

Christ, could you imagine what he'd be like if he was on the receiving end of some of the taunts Premiership footballer's have to put up with?

What a hilarious defense they came up with. Eh er, it was um, a joke!
Satire and whatnot of todays articles!

He has every right to be enraged at it.
Because some footballers get abuse, so what?

....and if you turned around and published faked naked photos of premiership footballers WAGs, they wouldn't react any differently? I doubt that very much. In fact I'd say they'd be quicker to issue a lawsuit.

Besides that's not the whole issue; the whole issue is the absolute precision timing of this....it's obviously been done to gain the publication notoriety and to sell hard copy and some of the more cynical amogst (me for instance) would say it's a deliberate dig at the US team right before the off in a tournament that's cost the country a lot of money and time to get organised.

I don't particularly like the Irish golf scene, I find it elitist and exclusionary. I'd have little doubt that writers on such a magazine would be of the golfing ilk and see a stunt like this as "one for the team".
What it ends up being is crass and in poor taste. For shame.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 60,110 Mod ✭✭✭✭Tar.Aldarion

As opposed to what other golf scene?

I doubt I could afford to play in America or Britain but I can here. It's very expensive and exclusionary but it's all we've got.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,909 ✭✭✭✭Wertz

America was a fair bit less expensive at least in the places I was...the whole sport seemed to be a lot more open to the hoi poloi, and I don't just mean financially.
The UK I don't know about.

Seems to me if you're not of a certain social group/class in this country getting into playing golf tends to be a bit "above you"....perhaps that is changing, but I don't think the attitudes of established golfers (especialy golf club members) has changed much...those attitudes strike me as elitist and as time has gone by, any grounds for being that way have slowly eroded yet that self same attitude persists.

Maybe I'm just a reverse snob, but no other sport comes across that way to me.

These pics have been around for ages, i think i saw the same headline on uselessjunk.com about 4months ago, everyone was saying it was his wife. The people printing this musta known it was fake. I dont even think it was photoshopped, most said it was just a lookalike.

I just know the places beside my brother in Britain. Wouldn't even be able to pay for a round, on teh ones that aren't members only that is. I'm sure there are cheapish ones?

I would say a lot of older golfers are like that still, very much so.
It is very open to young people these days. Back when I was joining at about 10 it ws very cheap and was only 140e last year for a years membership. Over 21s it gets really expensive...no more golf for me.
Some people there are such elitists etc, makes you feel good to beat them... (:
I do know a lot of twenties/thirties/fourties people that are incredible friendly though. They even let women play on our course. :p
