Bios not fully ACPI compliant?

Got me new PC put the lot together and got this blue screen warning after formatting one of the hardrives (36gb SATA raptor) and just after the set up says starting windows at the beginning of the install.

    "Bios not fully ACPI compliant"

This PC is at home and I don't have the internet there so I'm trying to find as many solutions as possible, has anyone any experience with this error?

At first I thought it had something to do with the Sata hardrives and drivers but after reading up on it I think it's just to do with the motherboard and winxp.

    I've come across these solutions,

Disable APM and legacy USB support

F5 during install and select ACPI multiprocessor pc, maybe because it's dual core?

    Remove a stick of ram.

Tried putting a regular IDE drive in the PC to see if that would load but it didn't.

I'm assuming the board is definitely APCI compliant.

Have you flashed the MB bios to the latest version?

No I was hoping to leave that as a last resort. I didn't have a floppy till today anyway.

Tryed the F5 thing at lunch but there isn't an option to choose multiproccessor pc. It's a fairly old version of windows xp I have, I got it fairly close to the original releace date.

Tryed F7 and got a new error,

    driver_irql_not_less_or_equal

I'll try a bios update tonight I guess, never done one before though.

Installing the bios update worked, cheers.

Although I have a new problem now.

    What's the new problem?

When I try to install the graphics card and mouse the installers just stop and say there's files missing. With the graphics card when it says it can't find a file it brings up the browse box. I click browse and the files right there, click continue it runs for a few seconds more then the same thing, eventually I get the blue screen and the computer restarts.

    I'm hoping this is because I haven't installed SP1 and 2 but I don't see how.

I thought these things where supposed to be getting easier to use. This bitch is even more tempermental than the last one that I spent next to nothing on. I was expecting it to be like the AMD rig I built for work which runs like a dream.

Do magazines like Pcformat still have the latest drivers on their disks?

Create a Windows XP disks with SP2 slipstreamed and reinstall using this. Most drivers etc now ask for at least SP1 to be installed.

I have to find SP2 first. I found 1 but I gave 2 to a friend. Can't download the thing because I live in a broadband black whole or Eircom doesn't like us or something. I can get them to post it but it takes a while.

Is there a 3rd one out?

Nope, SP2 is the latest service pack. If you want PM your address and I'll post you a copy of it.

Getting a pc working without the Internet at hand is a bit of a pain in the gazebo.
