    Ive just bought a 206- I love love love it, but on the dash Im getting a little picture of a spanner and the numbers 11100...does anyone know what this is, garage reckons its because it wasnt reset or something, but I have the feeling he was trying to fob me off

    Also, Im after dinting it getting out of my driveway..my brother reckons I need a new panel (above the lights) Im after being told its will cost 250 to a grand

    Does anyone know ?

    The little spanner usually means the car thinks it's due a service, not too sure about the 11100 but it prolly indicates the mileage the service is due at.

    The dealer may be correct in what he says: usually when a car is serviced the service interval timer is re-set by the mechanic: usually a combination of pressing the clock/counter buttons on the dash and turning the ignition key.

    If you have a service history and are satisfied the car has indeed been serviced, it should be fairly simple to reset this yourself.

    Its the service indicator, should flash up for about 10 seconds when you start the car or longer if its less than 1000miles I think.

    Info taken from http://206gti.net/faq/

    To change the Service Interval

    * Switch off the ignition
    * Press and Hold the daytrip meter button situated to the right/bottom of the Rev counter
    * Switch on the ignition
    * The display will begin a 10 second countdown.
    * Release the button before the countdown finishes
    * The service interval is displayed
    * Each brief press of the button alternates the setting
    * When the required service interval is displayed, press the button for 10 seconds to confirm.

    Zero Reset (Remove "Spanner" symbol)
    Your Peugeot dealer will carry out this operation after each service. However, if you carry out the service yourself, the reset procedure is as follows.

    * Switch off the ignition
    * Press and hold the daytrip meter button situated to the right/bottom of the Rev counter
    * Switch on the ignition (the display begins a 10 second countdown.)
    * Keep the Button pressed for 10 seconds.

    The display shows [=0] and the service indicator (spanner) disappears

    Hope that helps :)

    Thanks for the advice. Mine came on after it was serviced and I was wondering about this!
