Any ideas on this interesting handicap tomorrow? Wangara ran on well but never a factor against,, IMO a class act Miracle ridge. Way lower than the best horse in the race Incline, and I think it (Wangara) is worth a shot.

Ideas? Here is the link to the field

I have to agree, both Incline and Wangara look very appealing.

    Ok guys....

WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY???

(I'm talking to Gamblor and Sjones here)

I looked at this race earlier and I have to admit I thought it was a bit of a puzzle. I have come to a personal conclusion in it but I'd like to hear more from you guys.

I have already posted this elsewhere on another forum, and I hate posting the same things twice, but I have a bit of confidence in a couple of bets for tomorrow, so here goes:

    4:10 - Listowel

Guinness Kerry National Handicap Chase (Grade A) (4yo+) Winner £62,327.59

Tomorrow (Wednesday) sees a very competitive handicap at Listowel. There are some great horses running - Montery Bay, Pearly Jack, Odachee, No Half session, Bothar Na, Deep Return.... to name but a few.
There are a few standing out, so I'm going to dutch 3 of them in the hope of making a nice few bob. Firstly, Odachee: He can handly most types of ground, so no worries there. The Jockey (Russell) has a decent enough record here, and it is worth noting that blindly backing him at Listowel over the past 5 seasons produces +13pts profit. The horse has shown excellent form in it's last outings, and is proven on this distance.
Secondly, Bothar Na: Again, showing good form, and one I feel has plenty more to come. He is proven on the distance, and the booking of Ruby Walsh gives me some confidence.
Thirdly, Deep Return: With 10 stone 1, I feel that he has been treated very kindly in the weights here. This horse has shown fantastic form of late, and is certainly one to keep an eye on. I'd be very surprised if he is not up there at the finish.

Using a total of 10pts: (betfair prices)

    Odachee - 8.2 - 3.51 pts
    Bothar Na - 8 - 3.60 pts
    Deep Return - 10 - 2.88 pts

Total cost of bet: 10 pts
Return if any selection wins: 28.82 pts (including stake)

    Elsewhere:

    3:55 - Goodwood

Charles James Homes Foundation Stakes (Listed Race) (Class 1)

    Imperial Stride

I will be very surprised if he gets beaten here, and think the current price of just under evens on the exchanges represents good value. Saeed Bin Suroor has an excellent record at goodwood, as does jockey Kerrin McEvoy. This horse is proven over this distance, and has enjoyed incredible form. There is a worry in that he has not raced in nearly a year, but I'm sure Godolphin have thought of that before running him. Any softening of the gound means no bet.

A maximum 10pts bet for me at just under evens

What's everyone think of Schinken Otto in the second at Perth? Has a lot of weight after his last win. Can he pull it off?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 323 ✭✭gamb1or

i'm liking the look of CAUSTIC WIT in the 3.20 at goodwood

cannot believe its 16s, hes carrying feck all...

hes won before at this distance and class too

    definite e/w material

3.45 at Redcar - Billy One Punch

carrying a fair bit of weight, finished 4th in his last race carrying a lb less, but it was a very close 4th....sanders on board is a plus as well

    Redcar 16:55 Talcen Gwyn
    because i said so

    Perth 15:30 - SHAMAN

came 2nd in a class 4 race in his last race, and has been placed many times in class 4 races...hes running in a class 5 race today and is bottom weight!
nearest rival allaboveboard doesn't like softish ground at all

PERTH 5:15 - this is my NAP of the day - BOB THE BUILDER. He went str8 into my notebook after his last performance back at aintree. He was well backed in that race and was running very well until he fell. This is a far easier race and i would be surprised if he didnt win this. 15/8

PERTH 4:40 - i got a tip for Rouge de beuvoir. it is a reliable source and it has been backed well today so it might have a chance. 3/1

3:55 goodwood - i know imperial stride looks the winner here and might well be but i think NAKHEEL has great value at 6/1.he is a horse at the top of my horse tracker after a great performance last year. If the ground softens at all at goodwood i think he will win

    BOB THE BUILDER 15/8
    ROUGE DE BEUVOIR - 3/1
    NAKHEEL - 6/1

    4:10 Listowel

I find it difficult to get away from the claims of Pearly Jack, if jumping around will surely be on the premises come the end. 3rd in this race last year, carries 9lb less this time around.

At 16/1 Nonchalant looks like a decent each way saver.

    5:05 Goodwood

At 6/1 Wannabe Posh represents a decent value bet. Will go on the ground and should be suited by the distance, is in good form at the moment and is still lightly raced so I'd expect plenty of improvement.

    3:10 Redcar

Fremen is rated 10lb highes than anything else in this claimer and should go very close. Has generally been in good form and ran respecably in a class 2 race at the weekend.

    3:45 Redcar

Coalpark's latest victory ahead of Cross the Line has been boosted by Cross the Line winning next time out off a career high mark. Coalpark still seems really well treated of a mark of 69 considering her recent good form.

    4:20 Redcar

A nice oppurtuinity for Seattle Robber in this seller, ideally drawn in stall 1 and one of only a small number to have shown any recent form in this race. Easily the highest rated of these.

    5:30 Redcar

Elkhar NAP is allowed to race off the same weight which seen him easily win an apprentice race last week and so will take a world of beating. Has won on his last 2 efforts over course and distance.

I've backed Pearly Jack myself. He's been aimed at this race all year. My only worry would be the ground. Athough he favours soft ground, the going now reads soft to heavy and his ideal trip is around 2m4 or 2m6. 3miles in heavish ground has to be a concern.

like the look of Elkhorn and bob the builder meself, at those odds i'm only sticking them in an e/w accumulator along with the 4 i mentioned

Didn't realise the going has changed.

If it's really testing Oodachee would have to come into the equation, I've already made my bets though.

Did anyone see this race? Any idea what the winning distance was?

EDIT: Nevermind, it was 3 lenghts.

City of New York was 2nd as well. Seconditis!

three or four lengths in it S. Keel ran well enough but Mon Michel was never in trouble , they both raced on coming to the last bend and maybe with 150 yds to go Keel got overtaken

    Bothar Na wins :)

Deep Return was a N/R, so stake is returned.

    Profit: +21.69 pts
