unusual occurence when I was in college

When I was in UCD, living on campus in Merville back in 2001 the strangest things used to happen, once, a cd fell off the shelf without anyone being near it, and it was well in against the wall, and most nights, this excludes the normal student noises, I used to hear the constant sound of high heels, running up and down the stairs of our building, and then running into the apartment building next door and doing the same thing, there was no-one there, but even my boyfriend could hear it too, often, I would hear the high heels running outside my window, as if running on pavement, thing is the ground was completely grass outside my window - I had heard stories about Merville being haunted later in college, but have told very few people about my experiences, I really never found out what it was. This is quite a short and rushed account, just on my lunch break and need to get back to work. Just wondering what are the rest of your opinions on this?

Interesting story. Did it freak you out, were you scared or just curious? Do you know if anything bad ever happened there?

Im not familiar with the place, waiting to see if anyone else will post who knows it.

I havnt heard anything like this from UCD before but as far as I know Merville is a new part of the college? If there is any activity there it would probably be from whatever was present on the grounds before UCD moved there whenever they did

Not to take from your story, sounds quiet interesting, but when I use to baby sit in my sis house I used to always hear what sounded like high heels walking up and down the hallway, it use to freak me out a bit and I heard this on a lot more than one occassion but to cut a long story short as in a hurry it turned out to be a the boiler (which was located in the sitting room) chanking cannot remember if it was because it was filling up or getting to hot. Was there a boiler near your room.?

Yah, cos I'm so well known for committing to a decision on paranormal issues :)

about the boiler thing, there was a boiler in the apartment but no where near where the sound was coming from, and there was the sound of the doors slamming too.
As far as I know, there was a girl who threw herself off the bridge of the dual carriageway on the entrance to UCD, there is a plaque there for her, stories were going around that she haunted the college, in particular Merville and the College Tribune did a story about it saying how house 9 in Merville was haunted for years, now I lived in house 17, but it was still strange. Didn't scare me much, I was more intrigued as to what was going on, it was just a bit frightening when I heard the noises outside my window.
There was also another story about a girl who lived in Belfield house, her boyfriend went off to the army and they were madly in love, when she never heard back from him she didn't know what had happened, whether or not he died? She saw him months later with another woman, think he had got married, and I heard she killed herself, according to the College tribune she can often be seen walking the grounds of UCD.

oh, and I forgot about the whistling, there was often whistling sounds accompanying it - on non windy nights, first we thought it was burglars, but wasn't, had a look outside and there was the definate sound of someone whistling but no-one there! Also have no idea what that was.
