Hey, I'm some fresh meat for bf2.

Got it installed yesterday, updated to 1.4 and added a few servers in xfire.

But cant seem to go straight into servers via xfire? I added the stickied ones in this forum.

Anyone any advice on the quickest way to join a server, what servers are the most fun/least laggy.

To join from xfire you need to enter youre EA game name and password exactally as it is in the normal log in screen. Capital letters need to be so in xfire as it is case senisitive. While BF is a great game there is not really a quick way of getting started the front end interface is very slow to respond and the log in to EA can take some time too. Yer best bet is onece ya log in ya play for as long as ya can to mimimise youre load in and log in times. I perscribe you about 6-8 hours a day till ya get to about 20,000 global score then ya can drop back to 4 hours a day.

I use Qtracker to join servers as it gives me a list of buddies online (can add friends by clan tag) and the others don't have to be using the program to see them online.

It disables the intro movies and connects to a full server as soon as there's a slot free.

Good luck with BF2! Sadly itll probably be dead in a few months when the stat whores leave it in droves to get new shiny medals and unlocks in 2142

chill lads, Every game will die out its a fact of life but I think there is still some life in bf2 yet, seeing as 2142 is only tarted up graphics and basically the same game.

i built a computer just so i could play bf2 properly( i still cant still get the lag)

Is 2142 gonna be way more processor heavy?

They probably rewrote alot of code to include huge blinding muzzle flashes so id expect the part of your processor thats used to process WIKKID GRAFFIX and flipping giant crabs to attack thier underside for MASSIVE DAMAGE will get a workout.

So to answer your question i dont know.

Depends, they could have taken the time to have a look at the engine source code and optimise it. But this is a Ea game so the answer is no. Might be worth noting on my room-mates beta battlefield 2140 it ran slightly worse.
