Possible to get Sky to dial back on command?

I don't feel like running extra cables throughout the house for my Sky Multiroom, but the threatening letters persist from Sky, and I'm compelled to do something about it. Is there a way I can go to a Service Menu and get Sky to dial home manually? I'd like to connect the boxes once a fortnight and send the information back, but with a temporary phone cable.

yes , do a new installation from the installer menu. Services, system settings 0,1 select. I dont think this will solve your problem though

Why not? If I dial home with both boxes once a fortnight, it should show up as constant communication on Sky's servers, right? Or am I completely wrong on this?

    No it won't at all.
Only a call at (unknown to you) time initiated by satellite command satisfies the multiroom mirror sub system. Otherwise anyone could easily defeat the security and Sky really are smarter than that.

Maybe if you let the extra multiroom box in the living room or wherever you have the main digibox overnight it might phone home or if they still keep threatning you either tell them to get bolocked or permanently leave it in the main position where you may have your Digibox connected to the Telephone line.

I have never connected mine nor do I intend to, I have all friends and relatives advised to plug their digiboxes out too as they phone home and upload all of your viewing habits and that is too much of an intrusion of privacy for me. Sounds tinfoily but I have been told it from a few different people.

Well, if I understand correctly, to establish that both boxes are indeed at one address, both boxes dial out independently (As they can't share the same phone line at the one time). How about I alternate boxes once a week or so? And have one location in the house permenantly connected?

Is that not a myth? I understand there may be some kind of scheme where you can sign up to do this, but it does not do it by default. For one thng, I believe it may be illegal.

    Tivo definately does it.
Sky somewhere mention anonymous viewing statistics. It isn't illegal. I was confinced that they do do it.

But they can't tell if someone is actually in the room or if the TV is even on.

The boxes DO dial at different times but can tell if phone line is in use.
They do need to be connected to same line, even different POTS sockets on ISDN causes the Sky security to fail (In that case Sky can be contacted and they arrange to use CLI instead, proving the scheme is a bit cleverer than CLI). So your scheme would not work.

If you don't want wires running around the place, just use a Wireless Phone Extender:

It retails for about €99 as far as I remember.
