Did this happen all of a sudden? The administrator (or whoever has that account on your PC) might have changed the permissions or something.

    Hi Ruu
what happened was my pc did not work at all on saturday so I disconnected
broadband and tried and tried, then on sunday it worked for a while then when I logged off it and went again, but I was able to use it on another family user account.
I am the admin, but I didnt change the permissions I wouldnt know how to do that. The only way I can get on the web now is to use the Run thiny and search in the C:\ to acess the web.I may as well be looking into a bush at this stage
    so any help greatly appreciated.

Go into Start->Control Panel->User Accounts and select the profile and you should be shown different options to associate with the account there.

sounds to me like some malware or trojan edited the registry to dissable your access... you may have admin rights but they are being limeted.
Obvious things are control panel is dissabled, cant right click-properties on desktop or my computer.. even if you search for *.cpl and try open a control panel extention like add-remove programs you will get an error.

Cant think of the registry key off hand.. i think it was hkey current-user,software,microsoft,windows,policies,explorer
and look in there.. it should be pretty obvious as it will mention desktop, control panel etc... anyway change the number from 1 to 0 on them. Usually only one item in there.. something about autorun i think.

Its possible some other registry key is also causing a problem.....
