golf in Malaysia

Has anyone played golf in Malaysia?

I’m heading out to KL for a week with work mid to end of January. Thankfully I’m allowed a couple of free days, so I thought a round or two of golf would be a great way to pass the time.

Would appreciate any advice on decent courses in the KL area.
Is it possible to rent clubs?
Is it easy to reserve tee-times?
What time of the day is best to play? (I’d imagine mid-day would be way too hot!)

Yes, i played in Malaysia recently. There are many golf courses in KL but my favourite would be the Saujana CC. Renting clubs is not a problem because most courses have pro shops that provide the services. (Though might cost you a lot of money if you want to rent a good set of clubs) I will advise you to book teetime if you plan to play on the weekend. Weekdays (monday to wednesday) are easy to get in without booking (but this depends on what time you want to play). Very few people play around noon time (11 to 3pm). The best time to play in my opinion is early morning. Be at golf course at 6am, tees off at half six and finish the round by half nine. Almost all courses in KL require you to rent buggy. There is no such thing as trolley as in Ireland. Some golf courses only allow the buggy on the tarmac track and therefore each time you have to walk with few clubs in hand from buggy to your ball and plan you next shot from there. Then finish off you shot and walk back to the buggy. I find this very annoyoing. A few courses in Malaysia also provide NIGHT GOLFING and you find a chance to try out - a whole different experience. Enjoy your trip to Malaysia. Dress code is strict for all golf courses. And bring sun cream and lots of towel with you. Trust me, you need them.
