    Hello,

What is the situation with changing names on the "named" Ryder cup tickets?

If someone isn't able to go, is it ok, to just turn up with a passport as ID or do you need to have somehow had the ticket re-registered beforehand?

    Any info/insight appreciated.

    Non transferrable AFAIK

    Non transferrable AFAIK

If this is the case then surely it should be possible to obtain a refund. Would consumer protection not be applicable, after all we paid using our credit cards?
It is not satisfactory that there are company tickets in circulation that don't have these named requirements. The whole thing seems unfair on ordinary individuals.

I honestly hope they don't let anyone in if they are not the named ticket holder. It's the only way of getting rid of the ticket touts.

Of course you should get your money back if you're not able to go. It must be something very important if you're turning down the opportunity to go to the greatest sporting event ever to be staged in this country.

    Definately non-transferable.

From the small print on the back of the ticket it states there is no refund unless the day is cancelled and their insurance kicks in. So we were expected to finalise our attendees by name on August 21st.
The great event that was the Ryder cup has been completely taken over by greedy commercialism. From the tickets sales to the Sky TV deal. I love golf and the competition of the Ryder Cup but will bypass absolutely every thing on sale at Straffon this week.

    Hi,
I have received two tickets for tomorrows practice day (friend couldnt go and got them for nothing).
Do the practice days follow the same rules as the main event as regards transferring tickets?
Dont want to travel up and be told i'm not getting in!

    Thanks

Phone up the Uk number for RCTS with your Request Id & get them to change it. You will need the Passport Number of the new person who is going with you. The name on ticket won't be changed but their database that they check at the gates will have the new name.

    Regards

As DalkiethRFC states, call RCTS and they'll change name on ticket no questions asked but you need all personal details including passport number & date of birth. Can't split a ticket though which ruins my weekend after inviting my mother & sister to come with me and share a ticket; one coming Saturday, one on the Sunday. Never envisaged the officials would be so anal about names on tickets and now looks like one of my family is going to be very disappointed. There's got to be some balance between beating the touts and flexibility for people's plans. Can see security and access to the ground being a disaster with long queues and very angry/upset people.

Anyone have the number for the RCTS? It seems to be hidden on the web site. Thanks

so what is the story with companies selling tickets at a premium that do not seem to require passport details for tickets?

or unnamed tickets? how are some of the tickets unnamed? is it because they are corporate tickets or sold as part of a package or something?

My brother has tickets that he got from his company for the 4 days. He has different people going every day coz he is unable to go every day except saturday. He offered me the 2 tickets for sunday so what do I do.
Will they work and who do i need to ring. Like I am his brother so what are the chances that he sold them to someone with the same surname. Surely they will let me in
    Help

It's one rule for corporations and another for the average punter. Hospitality tickets and tickets through tour companies do not require names to be provided until something like the day before the ticket is to be used. Whilst the average punter has to stick with the names he provided 18 months ago when he applied for the tickets.

According to Pat Kenny on RTE you can email names@rcts.co.uk to amend ticket names but your ticket remains the same so how does this work! I get the feeling the names issue is one big anti scalping bluff. They really need to definetively and generously clarify!

I was down there today (Wednesday) and I gave a friend a ticket that I had which had a different name on it to his and he had no trouble getting in. They looked at his passport and the ticket name which were different but asked no questions. I was going to feed them the line that it had been changed at the Cheadle office on the database but there was no need!
They wouldn't have had any way to check this either way.

Security might be stepped up though as the match days and opening ceremony approach... so worth trying to change it I would suggest.

I was there today and I saw security write a number down on someones ticket when the name didn't match the passport. As long a you had a passport you seem to get in without difficulty.
