Over the counter

Tomorrow I head to Dublin to buy a laptop, as I need one for college. I want to get it over the counter at the very moment, no waiting period because I will need it next week.

So can I have any good recommendations of laptop selling shops. I know about PC World and someone recommended "The Laptop Shop" in St. Stephens Green, but do they sell laptops with decent enough graphics power at a good price??

What I want is a laptop to have decent processing power (2 ghz about), decent storage, and good graphics power. I really don't want to buy one with the so called Intel EXTREME graphics tbh, I want to play CSS at decent fps on it. Can't spend over, lets say 1500 euro because of the college.

Any recommendations on shops or specific laptops in the Dublin area would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Just bought a laptop from 'The Laptop Shop' today. Good service and decent price and a nice selection of machines and accessories.

Beyond 2000 on either Chatham st. or Chatham Row. It's about 1 minutes walk from back entrance of St. Stephen's Green centre
    or
    Peats of Parnell st.
    or
Dixons in the Jervis st. centre
    or
Aldi or Lidl on Moore st/Parnell st. sometimes carry very high spec lappys at good prices.

You are completly and utterly right. Harvey Norman was next door, picked up a Fijitsu Amilo for €1300...

    AMD Athlon 64 3400+
    1 gig of ram
512 MB ATI Mobility Radeon X700
    Widescreen
    Wireless
    Remote Control

I could go on, basically it was deal of the year :D:D:D

    Cheers for the replys.

a 512mb X700? So ridiculous....a regular dedicated 128mb X700 performs pretty much identical to the "512mb" version, hate those stupid gimmicks.

Sounds like a decent deal though. Battery life mightn't be great with that 3400+ though, at least, compared to a decent intel processor
