Weird drag & drop issue

It's not so much vital, but it's a wee bit annoying at times. Normally, when you drag a file from somewhere and drop it on a folder, it cuts the file and pastes it into the folder (well at least it always did for me..). But since I've reinstalled XP, it just copies the file, and pastes it into the folder. Leaving the original where it was.
Is there any way to get it to cut instead of copy?
I know I could right click and cut or ctrl+x, but it's just a bit annoying is all.

Hold shift while you do the drag and drop.
