Theres a special ruling the Judge can do that would not only tell her to go **** herself but would do enough damage to stop anyone with half a brain from ever trying the same stunt again.

I forget the word for it.

this could be a landmark case, proving those "forward this to all your mates ,its being tracked, everyone gets a free ipod/plane tickets/liver" are a load of Sh1t and everyone might stop forwarding them!!!

I'm sure Starbucks reserve the right to cancel any offers like this. I'm sure that they have a fine army of lawyers.

It's a class action, she doesn't get the $114 million herself. The way it works is everyone who joins the class action gets a free cup of coffee or two, she gets $2,000 or so as the principal and the lawyers get ~$50 million or so.

And if you think this is ridiculous such actions are successful all the time. It's a major money maker for the lawyers, that is why they get involved.

Judge should charge HER 114 million for wasting court time!

Good thing you can't bind someone/company to a gift (exceptions but don't apply here). Basic concpets of contract law dictates she can't win, don't know why any lawyer would take this. Although I suppose the 1% fee of win or whatever would be worth risk.

While American doesn't seem to bothered on stretching the limits on personal injury, there is no way that capitalistic beast is going let the courts mess with the laws of contract.

Stinger on woman wasting lawyer money.

    Scumbag

There's loads of these kind of cases goin on, like that one about the guy suing Michael Jordan (or maybe Nike) cos he looks like MJ.

Do these people file these cases for ridiculous amounts of money in the hope that the company will not want to take the risk (and so will settle for a much smaller amount)? Does it work?

Cos that seems like the only reason why they'd do it.......

Spill a cup of coffee on yourself and you used to be a twat. Now you can sue the makers of the coffee, coffee machine and paper cup.

    :)
