Wii News, Wii Weather (looks like Google Earth), Mii (social networking, the avatar builder is pretty cute), photo/movie distribution and editting. Nintendo has delivered a fully functional online hub for $250, I don't think anyone expected this. Just amazing!

I love those sort of games (big shining force 1+2 fan) so am keen to pick up that sort of game for the wii.

Is the Wii going to have a decent size internal memory for saving all this user content, photos, movies etc that i dont know about or are they all going to stored on line because from the slides it looks like they used a lot more the 512mb flash and 2 SD slots can provide.

Wow a news feed on a games console, that's great... except i have the news on the tv which is better than some gick feed... also if i have access to the net on wii then i have access to bbc news online etc. Photoediting, ive never edited a photo in my life, dont see where the online hub comes into this, two pointless features that if people are honest they will probably never use.

Mcgarnicle would you please stop trolling about the Wii. Sure it has features nobody will use but at least we aren't paying through the teeth for features like Blu-Ray that I for one won't use just like every other console I own I used just for games. You should just go into hibernation until march, remortgage your house and get a PS3.

I was not too impressed with the Idea of the Wii up until a few weeks ago. I was looking towards getting the 360 for myself for Christmas but I think it's safe to say that I'll be putting one of these bad boys under the christmas tree now instead. Very excited by the word coming out on this.

You are listing things that many including myself WILL find useful. You keep bashing the Wii and then follow closely with "I'll still buy it". ALL of us are buying it for the games. The rest is padding when compared to the games but the modern console includes this social aspect.

Console makers are trying to appeal to the people who want what PC users have without them having to buy/learn how to use a PC.

The fact you are on a PC using a forum shows that you have interest in community based discussion - this type of thing is what console makers are breaking into now.

The reason this thread is highlighting extra features that come with the console is because we all know it plays games. People want to know what else they get for their cash and all you are doing is listing off each thing and describing how you would never use it - well don't - but if you don't mind some of us might like to.

I am sorry but the Wii looks like a load of poo. For a start the graphics are pretty basic with no detail and the gameplay looks pretty bad 2. I know you are gonna slag me off and tell me how wrong I am. Wait till March and the youll be using the vibrator on the controller for something else.

Well, If you are going to play games for graphics why dont you just buy a PC? Same for the gameplay. There are PC controllers to suit all tastes. Still, why complain about something like this on a thread like this?

It is obviously a thread by people who are looking forward to a console that they think is going to be alot of fun, who already know how its controlled and what the graphics are like. If you dont agree with this it might be prudent to just say nothing. If you really dont like the console then maybe you should make another thread about that.
