MP3 player/Pen stick?

    Hi,

This may be and idiot question, but I was wondering if someone can confirm if USB MP3 players can also be used as pen sticks? i.e. can any type of file be stored. I need to get a new pen stick and I noticed that the MP3 players aren't much more expensive. Can anyone recommend a reliable make? I noticed that Argos have a 1Gb Mikomi for €60, does anyone know anything about this particular brand?
    Cheers.

I'd imagine the answer is a profound and definite "YES, they can be used as USB Pen Drives". Flash based MP3 players are basically the same thing as USB pen drives except that they have built-in firmware for playing MP3's, WMA's, etc. I've never seen one that can't also store other types of files (and I work in a store that sells them - well, we sell Apple, Creative, iRiver, Samsung, iDisgo and Sony, never heard of "Mikomi")...

They're not MP3 players, so that doesn't address the OP's question.

creative muvo branded mp3 players are just pen sticks that recognise the mp3 format as a medium to make funny noises come out of earphones :)

Thanks for the confirmation, as I said it was an idiot question, it's just that the easiest place to buy one around here is in Argos and none of the blurb mentioned that they also could be used as a pen stick so I wanted to make sure.

Thanks for the tip, as mentioned it's a memory stick that I need first and foremost and for that price for a 2Gb I don't think I'll be passing it up.

    Thanks for the replies.

Generally for that price and product, you wont hear of many high end mp3 names like crative/iriver/iaudio/apple etc.

    How about this or this?

Then there's always ebay: this and oooh, this 2GB one for under €20 delivered! Says it's Samsung too! 11 hours left of bidding, no bids yet:)

and look... 2GB photo and video for under €20 delivered too, here!

If none of them work out for you, keep an eye on this page:)
