I'm on a three year fixed contract. I get paid weekly. Thinking of leaving. How much notice do I have to give before I give this. Can they prevent me from getting back any saving schemes I have or paying them out in full.

    Should be in your contract.
Its usually anything between 1 week to a month.

Legally, I think, you are only obliged to give as much notice as your paid.

But some contracts specify a month.

The notice you are required to give is whatever notice is specified in your contract.

If there's no notice period specified in your contract, then it depends on how long you've been working there (minimum notice is laid out in the Minimum Notice and Terms of Employment Act 1973). http://www.oasis.gov.ie/employment/changing_jobs/giving_notice.html?search=Minimum+Notice

That's it, there are no other "rules".
