This sounds good.I downloaded it but I have one problem .I tried ringing someone and they can hear me.What can I do if I dont have a microphone?
    What do I speak through?

They mention something about an ordinary pair of headphones.Where can I plug these into?

Is there a place at the back of the computer?

I am a bit Green when it comes to computers.

    Any help much appreciated.

    Thanks

You don't even need to use your computer. Go to the website and put your (non-mobile) phone number into one box and the other party's (non-mobile) number into the second box. Click Call and your phone will ring. You pick up and then the service will call the other party and bridge the two calls together. The same service is offered on a few sites (www.voipcheap.com and www.internetcalls.com).

But if you want to persist with using the PC/laptop then you need headphones and a microphone. You will find connectors on the back of your PC. They usually have little pictures of where the attach the speakers/headphones and mic.

I use my laptop so it has built in microphone and speaker! Dead handy!

    Thanks for the replies.

I am going to Argos tomorrow. What type of microphone and headphones would be suitable for this?

    Thanks

Is it that you only get 5 hours?

Just don't get a Skype one. These services are SIP-based VOIP protocol. Skype is a different beast.

Stick with something simple initially to see that your broadband service is up to it. A cheap headset from Argos should do the trick.

If you're happy enough you can get an analog telephone adapter (ATA) which lets you plug a regular phone into it. You then plug your ATA into your broadband router (assuming you have one) and make calls on a regular phone. But if you get that far, you're better off seeking advice from people on the Tech/Nets & Comms/VoIP forum.

if i had a bluetooth heatset, and a bluetooth dongle in my pc, could i use that??

That should do the trick too. I haven't looked at the application but, once you've paired the headset and dongle, you would need to select this as the default audio device within the application (or it might try to use your PC/laptop's mic/speakers). Alternatively (if the app doesn't allow you to set the audio device) you need to change the Windows default playback and record device to your Bluetooth headset and re-start the application.

I have problems with freecall.com.It just freezes on me.I am trying voip and it seems to work better but can take a while to connect when trying to log on to connect.
