Wii almost on the way

Ahead of the 3 big conferences at the end of the week, I just read this on IGN which suggests that Nintendo is boxing the Wii already!!
Clever users investigated a number of work agencies postings and found recent job openings for Nintendo's North Bend location, which houses the facility that packages and distributes the publisher's products. However, the most compelling job posting is listed directly on Nintendo's official website. Nintendo of America is looking for a production agent trainee to work out of its North Bend facility, and the person will most definitely be handling as many Wii systems as they can get their hands on.

Directly from the Nintendo job posting:

    * "It's an exciting time to be a part of Nintendo's team! Millions of eager fans are eagerly anticipating the launch of our revolutionary new console, Wii. As a Production Agent Trainee, you'll be on the front-lines--working tirelessly to ensure they don't leave stores empty handed this holiday season.

At least one IGN board poster has applied for the position and will undoubtedly report back with details if he nabs the job. We're keeping our fingers crossed.

In the meantime, the latest allegations - combined with Nintendo's own job posting - seem to back up reports from studios that the console is finished and that the Big N could spring an early launch on consumers if and when it reveals Wii's price and release date later this week.

And also on the official Nintendo website there's an announcement about the conference on friday
On Friday, September 15, Nintendo will host a huge invite-only event in London. The subject: Wii.

Hundreds of invitations have been sent out to European press, to join us on this momentous occasion. While that unfortunately means the general public isn't able to attend, it doesn't mean you have to miss out on the biggest Nintendo news of the year.

On Friday we'll have full coverage of the Wii event right here, so you can find out the official word straight from the source as soon as it's made public.

What's it all about? Well, you'll just have to wait and see. But as the text on the invitation card teasingly states:

All of you will be excited, intrigued and interested in what we have to show you.

This is an event you must not miss. Wii promise.

Time to get excited? I think so! :D

Spam I got from HMV today (in case anyone is interested):

"I am sure you have heard the news about the delay of the launch of PS3 console, but the good news is that the rumoured release date for Nintendo Wii is 24th November 2006 with the anticipated price for the console said to be only £149.99*.
Confirmation of the above is hard to come by at the moment as Nintendo are playing it close to their chest, although we expect there to be further announcements in the next couple of weeks to coincide with the Tokyo Games Show.

We are conscious that many of you will be desperate to place an actual order and reserve a copy on the launch date. It may be that Nintendo announce the details to the public at the same time as retail but rest assured that we will pass these on to you as soon as we can. As a Registered Games Rewards Cardholder, we will still endeavour to give you at least 48 hours prior notice before we start taking pre-orders, but to some extent we are all waiting on Nintendo announcing plans.
Click Here to access the HMV.co.uk Games homepage to see all the latest games releases and offers online!

    Regards

    * Release date and console price may be subject to change."

Got a similar story from the guy in GAME on Henry Street today, a price like €180-250 and a release date in November which could shift. Put myself on the list there though... as soon as GAME gets wind of anything official they ring the people on the list :)

I think ill put a bit of money in an envelope for the deposit.

Smyths are taking deposits for €25.

Date on their board says Novermber 3rd.

Do they know something the rest of the world don't?

Thats what I'm thinking. Nobody buys Nintendo home consoles here.

I could just walk into game and buy DS at launch and same when I got a DS Lite which sold out almost everywhere else in the world but Europe.

    Ireland is more Sony territory.

In all likelihood you'll be able to pick one up at launch without pre-ordering, but I'm not going to risk that. I pre-ordered mine in Smyths.

They have a list, they say they're going to ring the people on it when they know what date they'll have them in.
