    Sounds sexy doesn't it?

    Here's an interesting article

Some good script and fan movie links in there too.

A few years after becoming Batman, Bruce Wayne decides that his vigilante career is not working and ultimately retires from the mantle of Batman. After his engagement to his new fiance, Elizabeth, the Joker brutally murders her, and Bruce is left alone with sorrow and grief. He returns to the role of Batman and follows the Clown Prince of Crime to Metropolis, where Superman unintentionally falls into the picture. It seems that Joker and Lex Luthor are pitted against both the heroes, and it all comes down to a battle between the Last Son of Krypton and the Dark Knight.

This film is said to take around the same time; following the end of Batman Begins and continuing from Superman: The Movie. Both Superman and Batman were young, since those were origin stories, with Batman being in his mid-twenties, and Superman somewhere in his mid to late twenties physically (with the mind of a 30-year old). This film will tie into both franchise's and the comics continuity. This plot has some major elements in common with Frank Miller's Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, which climaxes in a fight between Batman and Superman. In that comic Superman also fears that Bruce Wayne has gone "over the line." The Dark Knight Returns along with Alan Moore's Watchmen forced the publishing company DC to reinvent their superhero universe along with Superman and Batman's relationship so that the previous best friends for many years turned unwilling allies who don't agree with each other's methods. For the last few years DC has successfully published the Superman/Batman book in which the two characters team-up as co-stars.

Lets hope this comes to pass. :)

It probably will happen, in one form or another. Inside of about four films each, the new Superman and Batman franchises will probably both be running out of steam. What better way to revive ailing franchises, or to go out with a bang then to put the two most iconic superheroes together?

Did anyone notice a TINY hint at such a thing in Superman Returns, when a news reporter mentions Superman doing his thing in a whole bunch of cities, including Gotham? Have they already possibly planted a seed there? Strictly speaking comic wise, Superman has always recognised Batman's sovereignty over Gotham and thus stays out, but it was cool to hear none-the-less.

But seriously, how cool would a Dark Knight Returns adaptation be? Imagine someone like Clint Eastwood (although a bit too old now; Batman is supposed to be fifty five in it) pounding the tar out of Superman while saying lines like "It is well past time you learned what it means to be a man!" or "The world only makes sense when you force it to." *wipes up the drool*

I wouldnt like to see it happen. The reason I liked Begins so much is because it is based in reality meaning that theoretically everything that happens in Begins could happen in real life. If you throw Superman into a Batman movie then the reality factor is out the window.

I'm a superman fan but I do understand the above reservations of the Batman fans.

Isn't Superman a million times more powerful than Batman though?? How in the hell could they fight?

I haven't read The Dark Knight Returns but Superman and Batman have a great fight in Superman: Red Son, albeit with Superman's powers lost :o

Personally I'd love to see another Batman movie, Batman Begins was excellent. Superman I could do without though, I didnt like the new one and he would seriously diminish anything with Batman in it :)

    I don't think they'd be fighting.

Without a good scrap between the two what's the point! ;):)

Well they could go the Dark Knight Returns route which has a pretty good fight (I won't spoil it, you'll have to read it ;) ).

But anyway, I think it would be great. Cross-overs are great. Just look at Alien Vs Predator. Two great films came together and made a great film...eh...well...er...Hmmm maybe cross overs aren't a good idea!

Anytime Batman and Superman have faught, Batman always wipes the floor with Superman. That said, I would like to see Bale and Ruth on screen together.

Theres a cartoon of Batman and Superman. If I recall, it was from the Superman Cartoon a few years ago. In it, Batman was always a step ahead of Superman. But rather than enemys they where unwilling partners. Trying to stop the Joker and Lex.

I am far, far from an expert on said matter but I always assumed Batman and Superman inhabited the same general universe. If i remember correctly - which could be wrong - there was also a mention of Metropolis in one of the Batman movies. So theoretically, a showdown in which Superman would inevitably win (and I prefer Batman) is possible - but unlikely, cause, hey, they're both good guys.

You are quite correct, on all counts. Most DC comics characters inhabit the same universe, much as their Marvel counterparts do.

    Batman Forever.

I dunno about this as much as i would love to see it i would also hate to see it cause it would wreak the realism portrayed in batman begins which i thought was the key factor why that movie was so sucessfull also yea how the **** would batman even compare with superman unless he had some criptonite in that utility belt of his(and lets face it he has everything in there).

Im Split down the middle :(

Yeah im assuming so. Just out of curiosity, who won? or did they both sit down and discuss their differences over a cup of coffee and everyone was happy?

Batman and Batman Returns were good movies, Batman Forever lost the plot and as for Batman & Robin, its is such a horrible film the mind boggles why they even sanctioned making such a piece of s***.

I'd say both Superman and Batman franchises have 1 film left each. Superman returns was a let-down and although Batman Begins was a class movie, its hard to see where else they can take it.

I'm not a fan of either, and my knowledge of such is pretty much non existant, but seeing as Superman is by all accounts superhuman and batman is just...a guy, how does batman wipe the floor with him? Don't tell me its the cliched Kryptonite weakness thingy....Batman may be many things but a dirty fighter he isn't....is he? :D

    Yup

Very, very much so much of the time. Unless you count swinging through the air / through a window and kicking a guy in the face as not dirty.

ah come on did you expect him to adhere to marquess of queensbury rules while being shot at, of course he fought dirty its part of the reason for his popularity, he kicked the crap out of bad guys.
