I could have posted this in the Satelite thread but I think it's a bargain anyway. I have had a Sky dish for 6 years now and heard that if you try and cancel Sky they will offer you half price, so last April I went to cancel and got the full package for 3 months @ €31.50 per month instead of €63. As I watch feck all telly in summer I cancelled again in July but agreed to keep on a basic package for free (entertainment and kids). As the Ryder Cup and the footie season is starting again I decided to chance my arm and yes they have offered me the full package again for €33 per month until December:p . So anyone who has subscribed over a year should make the call.

I think I'll give them a call. Been with Sky for years but not very happy with them. They have plenty of good offers for new customers but they don't reward loyalty! I wonder will they upgrade me to sky+?

Cool, Sky often have those sort of things. I often cancelled my subscription for a few months until the premiership started again or whatever and they would call and offer 3 months at half price to get people back.

Yes i have been doing this too in recent years. They are usually pushy and try to make me change my mind swo i just say i am spending time away in Spain in my second home. They usually ask me "will thre not be someone in the house who likes to watch sky when you are away?" I just say no the house will be empty for a few months.

I actually rang them last week and complained to them that it is unfair the way they offer all kinds of free equipment etc. to new customers and nothing to existing ones.

I have a 7yr old digibox and if i want to get the sky+ it would cost me €189 as fitting is extra (fitting is free if you are a new customer).

I was thinking would i find a way around this if i cancel my account and then start a new one in my partners name???????????

    Thats what we did.
Just say you're moving and you want to cancel. The next day your wife can say 'hello, just moved into my new house. Can i get sky'

shizzit, you're right, we get sweet f as usual.

@ the threatening to cancel = discount thingy, have often considered trying it, but knowing my luck, it prolly wouldn't work :D

I rang sky a couple of days ago, existing customers must pay a total of €189 to have sky+, it's only €69 for new customers. Existing customers pay €149 and the remainder is to pay for fitting. Fitting is free for existing customers only if they order multi room @ €15 per month on top of existing subscription.

They offered me free Sky plus as well but with the extra €15 per month, i declined as am waiting for HD.

I got the three month at half price and free installation and service call when moving house as "i was going to go for chorus ;) "

If you are willing to go all the way to as much as cancel for sky being to expensive (dont use the moving house one) and NTL etc are offering TV Phone etc at half the price. They will come as low as 27.99 for full package for 12 months. The brother was offered that but that was after signing to NTL so he couldnt avail

I was cut off by sky and they sent me out a letter saying they'd offer me 3 months half price and cancel the debt if I reeconnected so I di. Then they went ahead and took the full monthly price from my bank a/c for the 3 months, my own fault for not checking but their rip offs. So I let them cut it off again and now they'll have to beg me to come back, or even pay me to.

My brother had to cancel his Sky subscription last week, as he wanted to get NTLs package of TV and broadband-- Sky offered him the half price deal also, though he didn't take it.
Looks like they realise they are not the only ones in the market anymore .
