System requirments

Is it just me or are Ea uping the system requirments with each additional patch for BF2. I have not played it in recent times, but upon hearing of the POE mod, I fig it was worth looking at. The mod is great, but power hungry. To get some kind of bench mark, I ran vinilla and found the original just as bad. I have an Athilon 2800+ Xp, a gig or ram and a 128 radion 9800 pro. When I bought this game upon its release, I was impresed with how it performed on my system, I could run with 2x AA and all settings on medium in 1024 x 768, with full viewing distence, but now I sigh as I must yet again lower the ingame setting. Now it is barely playable with low textures in 800 x 600 with 85% view distence, I mean there must be some kinda conspiracy! There is far to much disk access and not much more to justify it, I guess the numerous patchs have obesely bloted the code. Anybody else feel the pinch?

My experience was the opposite, from 1.2 on it got slightly better performing as they refined it (well some bits of the code).

    Update your drivers.

I updated to catalyst 6.08 before posting, No joy.. I belive it is BF2 because Fear Combat wips along on medium settings at 800 x 600 with no AA. This game is great fun by the way, and looks the business. The settings ar currently set about the same for both games, but Fear plays and looks far better even though its supposed to be very system hungry. what other drivers would u recomend me to update?

Edit: I also defraged the drive.
