I always used (and still do use) either colouring pencils or good ol' crayons. They look much better than markers. They had to be Crayola brand though... yes I was an odd materialistic child.

Colouring pencils, you were fecked if you went outside the lines with markers. :)

I preferred the markers myself. I found crayons too blurry and pencils a nuisance if the topper was broke/misplaced! :)

Crayons or colouring pensils were much better. With markers you can really see the lines especially if you were colouring a large area. with pensils and crayons it could be blended in. so ya i go with colouring pensils.

Markers here and I remember the large packet you'd get in the Pound Shop for a pound (obviously). They'd come in colour order and being a perfectionist I used to have to keep them that way all the time and would hate if someone put a purple back in the yellows section:eek: . Bad thing about markers though was usually the ink would come though on the other side so if you liked the picture on both sides of the page you'd be better off using colouring pensils.

This has just brought back the memory of the cut-out doll books which I used to love. Imagine giving one of those to a kid nowadays they'd probably laugh.

Also with colouring pencils, everyone had the devious plan of getting the last few minutes off class by breaking the pencil nib and having to walk, very slowly over to the bin to pear it. :) Win win.

colouring pencils - markers were banned after my cousin and i decided to decorate the freshly painted walls on the landing in his house one Christmas - we even brought our parents up to see our handiwork. we got murdered.

Ha ha, we used to sneakily whisper to each other while passing pencil pearers around the class as well. Hiding notes inside a pearer was another trick. Happy days!

Always used colouring pencils - we weren't allowed to use markers because some lad ate one of them and was sick for a week. The teacher thought we were all as stupid as that lad and banned them.

Also if you made a mistake, it was easier to clean up your mistakes with pencils than markers.

    Colouring Pencils FTW

I decorated the hall wall in my house when I was very young with markers and then they were banned.
I prefered pencils for drawing anyway as you can be more accurate...
Plus markers dry up or get other colors on nibs...

    Ah the memories.

As did my brother, except he used these Desperate Dan stencils he got in the comic. :)

I used both. I think all kids at some point "decorated" the walls.
