    Hi Folks,
Hoping someone could settle a debate for me with a mate. What size actually is the standard sky dish and is reception easier south of country i.e. smaller dish works?

a Zone 2 mini dish is roughly about 55cmx75cm, a Zone 1 about 35x55cm, If you lived in cork etc you could use a Zone 1

I wouln't use a Zone1 ANYWHERE in Ireland, and there are few very westerly places I'd want bigger than Zone2 when it rains hard.

Zone1 *might* be OK for Astra 2D in Cork, but not for Eurobird and some of the other satellites Sky comes from.

is it not Zone 2 all over the country?

would a standard non sky dish 60cm do in Cork?
One whole question i have on reading above is can you pick up eurobird 1 and astra 2d using the same lnb due to their close proximity or is .3 degrees a lot in satellite terms??

I have a 65cm non sky Fortec Star dish here in Co. Derry and get Eurobird no problem, Infact my Technomate gives a reading of approx 78% on Eurobird channels, so in Cork you'll have no problems

Eurobird and Astra 2D only look like separate satellites on a 1.8m ish dish or larger. The small dishes are not narrow enough beam. But easier to align.

65cm is fine in Cork. 60cm is OK except in very heavest rain you might see blockyness on a few channels.

    78% Level or quality?

Quality would be at least 75% on that size dish if aligned OK. 70% Quality gives a reasonable rain margin.
