Just looking through the posts on this forum, there are so many 'what do you think if this build..' or 'recommend me a...' or 'First Build - Yet another parts advice thread...' threads.

What say you clever people in the know putting together a shopping basket of components you'd recommend for a build.

Not to tell my grandmother how to suck egss but, something along the lines of :-

XYZ mobo, with ABC processor, DEF Graphics card, such-and-such PSU etc. etc. and a score out of 10 for Gaming, Video Encoding etc. etc.

I think it might be a good place for people who decide to build from scratch to start and will save some of you guys repeating yourselves over and over again.

    What d'ya think?

TBH, I'm pushing to get a separate forum for self builds.

A sticky wouldn't work as it would constantly need updating as new components come out on the market. Plus different people have different requirements depending on budget, preference, etc. So be very hard to come up with a definitive list.

Plus lumping all the self build into one thread would just be a disaster, be impossible to locate a post you want within it.

If you like the idea of a Self Build forum, then go here and add your support. Just ignore the "buddy up to build" idea. That's crap. What I'm looking for is a forum where people can post their proposed spec and ask for feedback, solve problems with installation, ask where to get component X, etc.
