Plasma tv warranty

Hope someone can offer some advice. My father has ordered the new 42" Pioneer Plasma tv and it comes with a 1 year warranty but he can get an extra 2 years warranty for about 190 euro.... Only snag is that it's not a deinstallation/reinstallation warranty, it's a Return to Base warranty and apparently the base for the warranty is somewhere in the UK
My question is, would this be worth going for or does the RTB part of it make it a waste of time? Also, are there other companies offering aftermarket warranties on Plasma tvs and is a long warranty necessary, i.e. do Plasma tvs give much expensive trouble?
    Thanks,
    Damo.

Buying in Southern Ireland but through an IT distribution co. (as it's working out over 1300 cheaper than high street, nice margin there lads) so don't know where they are sourcing it, maybe it's a UK supplier

Consumer electronics products from top brands like Pioneer are pretty reliable, and if they are going to break down they will usually go soon after you buy it. IMHO an extended guarantee is not worth buying. If you're saving 1300 then the set is probably costing you around 1900. At 190 for the guarantee thats a 10-1 shot that your set will break down. Not a good bet - save your money.

You should buy in Ireland, the prices have come down and you get a 2 year Warranty. and Ireland have there own service dept in Dublin on the Naas road.
