Howdy, Looking to get a dvd recorder, not sure if I want a hard drive based one or not...It all depends on the price. I wouldnt really know what a good price was for one. Anyone help me out ? I would prefer to buy it in Dublin but if there is a significant difference I will buy online.

    Thanks!

Bought a DVD + hard drive recorder in powercity about a month ago for €259 its a magnavox which is made by philips. It has 160gb is very user friendly and its getting loads of use and am very happy with it, well worth checking out.

Interesting...do you have a model number so I can read up on it a bit ? Price is certainly right.

Hi Tusky, If you have digital tv and are prepared to pay a little more (around 400) I would recommend the Pioneer 530. It is last years model but the only difference in the new model is that it has a digital tuner (only useful in the uk.) The 530 has an integrated epg (dowloaded from Itv every day) that acts like sky plus in that it allows you to select a program up to two weeks in advance and record by the touch of a button. I paid 440 for mine in may from richer sounds website.

    Thanks for the replies.

Yeah I ended up picking up that one. Not the prettiest but seems to work grand. Im having trouble tuning it into NTL digital though. Works fine with the cable channels though... any insight on this ?
