Help with BF2 1.4 Patch

Hi All,

Downloaded the 1.4 patch from File Front 530mb and then installed it.
Now my game will not start up and each time I try it craches back to desktop.
I have check the files in the BF2 folder and found in the Profiles folder some of the files to be missing: for example my profile.con file, settings.con file and so on. Can somebody please tell me how to resolve this and get my game working again. I feel I may have to uninstall and start over :mad: I hope not.

yeah this is something ur gonna have to do. Btw you sure you downloaded the clinet and not the server files???

Oh and u only need that big version of u didnt patch the game before hand. thats for 1.0 to 1.4

U probably allready had 1.3 so u needed the 1.3 to 1.4 patch

I've re-installed the game and the patch, but it still crashes to desktop when the game is starting. Anyone know how to fix it?

Hi Kevin,

Referance above, I had to uninstall the game and any addon like S.F. I then reinstalled both BF2 and then S.F. and then patched both with the full 1.4patch 530mb and the game is now fine. You cannot install the full 1.4 patch over the 1.3 patch or you will get the result as mentioned above in my previous message.

Remember when you reinstall the game you will also have to redo your game settings has these will be set back to default. You will not lose any of your points or badges has these are saved online with EA. I hope this helps

I'm sorry to say that you will have to uninstall and the follow the instructions above.

well not all ppl get this problem but its something that seems to happen to ppl with all the patches. Ive always been lucky.

BTW you can avoide having to re-do your buttons etc if u copy your profile and then paste it back once you have re-installed.

Its located in your documents/bf2 etc

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed screwiness with the server browser since 1.4 came out? Prior to applying 1.4, I'd get at least 200 servers in the 0-150 ping range. However, now I'm getting nothing below 230 in the main browser. However, when I go to my Favourites window, not one of those is over 70. What's that all about?
