there was one girl in CAIS2 last year, and maybe three in CASE2.

First year of the course we had about 20 girls alright.

okay  why do so many people drop out

  • Subscribers Posts: 9,716 ✭✭✭CuLT

Ah, it's just the course, I think it's far down the list for a lot of people.

Most of the ones who drop out just can't handle the programming. Little bit of effort is all it takes, plus there'll be a load of people in the same boat, work together, stick around the campus and you'll be grand :)

The overall dropout/failure rate in first year is about 50%

  ill just try me best :D

This man is the worst advertisement for College...EVER, Fact!

On the subject of Maths. Michael Clancy knows his stuff, so pay attention. Then, and most importantly, GO TO THE TUTORIALS! Also, Attempt the tutorial questions at home first then go in and get the solution. Sure fire key to MS120 success.

Also, There is a facility called The Maths Learning Centre(MLC). Use it people. Use it during the year and in the lead up to the contineous assesment exams and the final exam.

In that case you'll be flying.

The big problem is getting people to actually try... people realize that, unlike school, they're not going to get a slap on the wrist ofr not showing up to lectures or handing in assignments.

    You just fail :)

The Maths Learning Centre saved my life last year. Twice.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 289 ✭✭Pez

when wud u go there? like at lunch..?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,449 ✭✭✭Call Me Jimmy

well i went to an average of about 2 or 3 lectures a week so I had a lot of free time to go to mlc... got a first tho.... which proves anyone with any sort of brain activity inside their skull can do well in first year.

Generally between 11-1 and 2-4, Mondays to Friday during semesters and study weeks before exams. Its a drop in service so no timetables or appointments needed

Just make sure you read the java book!

He might know the stuff but he is useless at giving lectures, I couldn't stand listening to him, just went to the tutorials
