I'd like you all to join me in mourning today for Burning Eclipse.

Last night he arrived home to find his 360 robbed from the house along with his DS.

The scumabgs didn't even take the games for the console. They took the box and all the cables but left the games. Also they left otehr much more valuable music equipment in the house untouched

So does anyone know if you ring microsoft with the details of the console can they disbale it the next time it is connected to broadband???

I hope he reported it to the Police, they recover a lot of stuff and can never trace the owners.... not sure about the microsoft thing , its worth giving them a call though !!

That sucks, if he has the serial number they might be able to ban it from Xbox Live.

Yeah he is pretty gutted to be honest and rightly so.

He called the cops and the CSI dude is calling today to take prints.

    Poor guy

If MS care enough to bother then they should be able to help in locating it via IP's if it ever gets plugged into a broadband connection as it will login to Live automatically.

Jesus I hadn't even thought of that.

I doubt the scum who stole it will plug it in to a broadband connection though.

Could be worth cancelling the credit card as well though incase they do and that is linked to the Live account.

If you log into your Live account online, can you change the password? Will that stop them logging into it when they turn it on? Hopefully.

Sorry to hear that anyway, really sucks, hope they catch the people that took it.

Good thinkin outa you. If ever Zombies do take over the earth you're one person i hope is stuck in the shopping mall with me

I know he has his connection to live passworded with the button press thingy so that would stop them getting on to live with his account.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,304 ✭✭✭✭koneko

Well, I'm not sure how it works. If he changes his password his Live account might not be able to log on (as it's still set with the old password). I haven't tried this so I'm not sure if it works.

I don't think I'll be of much use in that situation really, other than for saving your credit card from getting used by the zombies to buy the latest horse armour pack and me then running away at high speed. :D

Chances are the xbox will get sold on, so if it was able to and did get disabled it would be the innocent person who bought it that gets the other bad end... the scumbag remains happy!

If that's all you can say then I'd suggest not posting.

Police have been helpful so far, but I'm expecting nothing, I live in an area of Limerick where students make up 90% of population and theft is beyond rampant. Thanks for all the comments guys.

I'm workin overtime till I get back to college, hopefully will have saved up for one soon enough... :o

Do you have any insurance, like house/contents insurance? Presumably you're renting, maybe the landlord/lady has some sort of insurance that might cover it.

I know I said it earlier, but damnit that really sucks :(

The scumbag won't be using it - he'll sell it on to some selfish blase twat who'll think they're great for buying a 360 for such a knock down price off a scumbag.

A note to all those who don't care where they're dodgy stuff comes from! It ruins someone's day.

except that person who bought it would have to know it had dodgy origins
and would be handling stolen property...............

Why would they? If it was sold via buy&sell, adverts.ie, or traded into a high-street store, who is to know?

Keep your eyeballs peeled on Buy n Sell n adverts, if u see a 360 for sale in Limerick area make sure have a look at it, wouldnt be any harm goin into a gamestop or Xtravision and giving them the serial and tell them to look out for a 360 coming in, if u aint got ur serial number, should be in ur warranty/manuals AFAIK, and im sure Mickeysoft have a record of it!

Really sorry to hear that mate, gutted for ya so I am....

    Horrible B*stards

I'll keep my eye in my friends list and see if u magically re-appear online!

Would you buy a 360 without the box/manuals etc.

    Dodge dodge dodge.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,893 ✭✭✭j4vier

he could still be able to get a box off somewhere like ebay though.

Many people throw out the packaging of electronics after they've bought them. If I were to sell my mac mini or my walkman tomorrow, I doubt I'd get my hands on both the packaging and manuals.

But anyway, we're going off-topic here.

    Mmm. Possible.

But do you think he'd bother? There is no shortage of people around willing to pay 60 quid for a lovely new phone (even if the implication is that someone is after getting a smack to get it).

And consequently there would be no shortage of takers for a 360 with no box, no manuals, no reciepts - for the right price.

I got a second hand 360 from gamestop, came with all the manuals but no box. Had to carry the bloody thing home in a large paper bag.

    :D really?

Ok - it's just me then. I just can't imagine bloody well throwing all the boxes and manuals for something like an xbox.

Oh they took the box too the scummers.

Burning Eclipse was able to recover his profile on a friends 360 so you'll still see him online.

Also to the poster laughing at the misfortune of another, i hope Karma kicks you in the sack today

    Sorry to hear what happened
Did you buy by credit card? some creditcards automatically offer insurance on purchases. They definately do on holidays (i.e giving travel insurance) so could be worth a try.
