Ryder Cup Bs! What A Joke!

So I have tried contacting someone for weeks now. No answer via phone or email.

I live 5 minutes away from the k club, but have been told that I cannot walk to the event. WTF!!! I was told that I have to drive to the Lucan or Johnstown site and catch a bus to come back to the kclub. FN STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, The websites are so unclear that it has become a joke. According to one site (Ryder Cup Home) there are only two locations for shuttles/buses, but if you go to the RCTS there is timetable for buses all around the area.

These fn pricks are really pissing me off. On top of that I got my tickets with my name on them and everything says that the ID must match the ticket. How the fck is that going to work?

I just want my money back at this point and I'll watch on the tv.

Sounds like someone didn't read the terms and conditions when booking!

There are 2 park and rides, one at Weston and other at Johnstown.

You would think you were the only one this affected.

If you live just five minutes from the K-Club then you can't be any more than 10 minutes from Weston!

These measures are in place to ensure a smooth running of the event.

Hey buddy, there were no terms and conditions regarding not being able to walk from my house to the kclub when being only 5 min away. And for your information we were initially told that we could walk or use a special shuttle for Straffan residents. So you need to STFU before you mouth off, not knowing what the fck you are talking about.

Secondly, jack off, I ordered the tickets and put all the correct details, now the tix have come all in my name.

The final piece jerk, is that the RCTS shows bus timetables for over 20 othe locations other than the weston and JT. So pay attn ah, before spouting off.

Actually I am...I just hate when people talk about what they know nothing of. As it stands at this moment I have been royally screwed by this situation. I have tickets that according to terms are of no us, I can't down the road to the event, but instead have to drive to another location and pay 20e for parking to be shuttled back right near my home(this after being told something completely different 6 months back.

    I'd say you're a laugh a minute to be around Poker&Pints!

Is there a Mod in the house??

From where I'm sitting I'd say you've been more "inconvenienced" than "royally screwed".

...to be honest - I don't really care. If your looking for sympathy, I'd suggest being a little less rude.

LOL. Figures you would be the type to whinge off to mommy, instead of paying attention to what was said. You're comments were wrong and unfounded to begin with, you had no concept of what has happened, but yet you insisted to on telling me to "get a life". WTF is that about. I just called a neighbor and let him know what I found out and he is livid as well. SO it is more than just me. There are at least 20 peole that I know here in town that have tickets which this will impact. Do you think they will feel any different?

I also live very close to the K-Club, and have known for quite some time that you cannot walk in the area. You should be glad of this, as it means less hassle for residents.
Also, if you live in straffan you are still very close to both weston & johnstown, depending on which side you are on. You should relax and enjoy it.
If the tickets are all printed in your name, you can bring guests with you, but they also need to have photo ID. Obviously there is only 1 of you (thankfully) and the organisers are not going to dismiss your 3 remaining tickets.

    Don't feed the troll people.

    Poker & Pints
You need to calm down and be civil or find another site to rant.

Name calling and personal abuse will get you banned.
I shall leave that decision to Ruggie and Amz.

    Poker & Pints banned.

    The rest of you behave!

In fairness, I can see his point. He has paid out money for tickets which, by the rules, all but one of them is useless.
Also, the park and ride system may be a godsend for the people of Straffan insofar as stopping cars parking all over the place and the streets being strewn with litter but I'd be fairly ticked off if I was told I had to go from my house in Lucan to a car park in the city centre to pay €20 for the privelege of a bus to Liffey Valley to see a movie I had bought tickets for.
I think the people of Straffan have had to endure a lot of inconvenience for Mick Smurfit and Bord Failte to do their international lapdance. Christ knows, the ones that aren't going to the Ryder cup will have a nightmare trying to get in and out of the place for the week. They may end up with lovely roads and flowerbeds afterwards (if all the coaches don't cut them up as bad as they ever were) but I think denying them the chance their address has given them to walk from home to the biggest worldwide sporting event of that week in five minutes is really a bit much. It stinks of "Mr.Smurfit owns the village now and if he's having a few friends over then you're not welcome".

P&P has contributed a fair bit to this forum in the past few months. Not always expressing opinions that everyone, myself included, agreed with, but the devil needs his advocates. Ruggie hasn't said so but I hope it's a temporary ban, a yellow card offence given his provocation by the RCTS even if his reaction to posts here was less than mature.

Personally I think it's pathetic banning him for a little rant like this. I can see his point and although maybe he didn't present his case as eloquently as he may otherwise have, it's bizarrely unreasonable to ban him for it.

You've banned one of the most knowledgeable golf people on the site for no good reason at the end of the day.

Things are bout to get a lot more boring round here methinks...

Personally, I think there is no need for that kind of abuse at any time anywhere on Boards. I hope Poker & Pints is banned for good for that.

Oh please, are we all really that sensitive nowadays? I've been called plenty worse. I assume you never played soccer or GAA if this language shocks you...

Personally, I hope he's allowed back with immediate effect because - whether he's the nicest bloke in the world or not, which he quite obviously isn't but then again neither am I aqnd I'd be pretty sure neither are you - he knows his sh*t and that's why I read this forum. To read stuff bout golf!

There's a way to talk to people, and if Poker and Pints is such a valued member of this forum the way some of you say he is, then you think he'd be inclined to act as such. He may have a point and a good reason to be annoyed but remember, he's not talking to people he knows here and not everyone likes to be told to jack off (whatever that means). If he has an interest in the golf forum he'll admit that he was wrong this time and if Ruggie lets him back he can enjoy the forum again in the future.

    Or not, I dunno.

I'm in a similar situation, I live in Celbridge, so I didn't buy a park and ride ticket as I had planned to get a taxi across (I'm just over 3 miles away). Obviously I know now that this can't be done.
Was up on the RCTS website and saw this:
Due to the proximity of the event, car parking passes are now no longer available for purchase on-line. Spectators who currently hold tickets to the Ryder Cup can travel to the event in a number of ways:

    * 1) Via train from Connolly Station to Leixlip/Louisa Bridge where there will be a direct shuttle to the North Bus Terminal. Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.irishrail.ie – tickets for this must be booked in advance.
    * 2) By taxi or private car to both North or South Park and Rides where there is a drop-off facility.
    * 3) Parking at the North and South Park and Ride will still be available on the day.

I think P&P should be let back. He is one of only a handful of regular posters and seems passionate and very knowledgable about the game. He shares his opinions and offers advice to others. Admittedly some of the posts above are a bit ott but it's not a regular thing for him. The second post did seem a bit snotty and patronising too which is probably what led to the abuse - not that it's an excuse.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,958 ✭✭✭✭RuggieBear

P&P is banned for a week for personal abuse. Personal abuse will not be tolerated on this forum. This is not the place to discuss bannings. If any of you have any issues with his banning take it up in the feedback forum.

    Now back on topic.

i'm not going to petition for a return of p&p however I see where he's coming from - he's pissed as hell and furious with what is a ridicilous situation ok and he let's fly a bit....then he's patronised on the boards and what choice has he but to loose it.....i'd do the same and think he's in the right here - you could see he's as mad as hell

I don't see his problem at all.
Go to the park and ride at Weston or Johnstown. Bring three guests who have valid photo ID, and enjoy the golf!
What is the big problem. Would he rather there was no organisation and everywhere within 10 miles of straffan became a giant carpark!

There's a lotta fields around straffan you could steeplechase through..

Say you are out for a walk, don't mention going to the event... You live there, it's gonna be a tough one stopping a guy visiting his granny down the road ya know... ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,618 ✭✭✭milltown

I think the whole point of the enforced park and ride is that there is no pedestrian entrance to the Ryder cup though. If you're not on a bus, you're not getting in.
