Well it'll explain why Mammoth 2500 is the best tasting weight gainer on the market. I was talking to the Interactiv agent for Ireland yesterday. Mammoth have had to have proper food labeling on it for further legal distribution in Ireland, and according to him....wait for it....

Mammoth has 86g of sugar per serving!!

So that explains it... sad day for us all :)

MassX - no simple carbs whatsoever.

When I was using Mammoth a good while back I got terrible spots down my side, everyone thought I was juicing, they wouldn't believe it was mammoth :p

    Is that all sucrose though?

    usually packets say
    Carbohydrate 60.2g
    (of which sugar) 4.5g

This "sugar" could be dextrose, fructose, maltose, maltodextrin etc. Are all of those sugars bad?

How big is a serving? it may be unpalatable sweetness wise if it was all just sucrose (table sugar)

How does sugar help you gain weight? Is it turned into fat?

Would that weight gain stuff be safe especially with all that sugar. Is there not a danger of diabetes?

It seems to me that its turned STRAIGHT into fat, obviously you'd use a certain amount for energy but if weight gain was your goal you'd presumably be eating a high calorie diet anyway.Add a few thousand calories derived from sugar into the whole mix and you're heading for rapid lardyness as sugar is stored readily as fat and not passed in the urine.I dont know about diabetes, nobody in thier right mind would use the product long enough for things to go that far!

Well, Im setting a target to gain 2 stone in 8 months by eating 3300 cals a day, maybe more. Would it be safe to take this stuff every day...Does it not send your body way off balance? Would you not get hives et cetera?

What is deemed a safe amount of sugar in a day?

You can get your calories from much better sources than sugar.Eat lots and lots and lots of food, wholemeal pasta, potatoes, brown rice and lots of protein with every meal.Keep sugar out of your diet alltogether,it has no real benefits at all.Taking that stuff every day you could be asking for all kinds of problems, better to bulk up by lifting heavy weights, stuffing yourself with good foods and get plenty of rest.

I would sooner eat loads of peanuts if I wanted high calorie intake (but would go with what Degsy mentioned). Peanuts are about 50% fat so you can only eat so much per day. Tescos have "value" peanuts for next to nothing, even much cheaper than peanut butter, stick it in a blender and you have your own peanut butter.

    exact quotes:

    152g Carbs serving

    86g are sugars

Sugars in the ingredients, majority is Crytilline Fructose.

You could use it a s a treat or a dessert with ice cream :-)
