Lads, some related threads by boardstracker.com thing is messing up every forum. It is showing alot of 'related threads' before the actual contents of a forum, really annoying.

Yep, it's taking up most of the page.

    Screenshot from safari: http://82.49.198.142/safaritest/1157550937-full.jpg

    Internet Explorer: http://browsershots.org/screenshots/737714d6a5717569232ae1e8bae40cb7/

(on firefox 1.0.02, and it's fecking up for me. Tried clearing cache, no dice).

Beat me to it, P. It's a combination of on site threads generated by teh dredded boardtrackur, and google ads.

Only appears on the front pages of fora if that's any help to anyone.

Im going to charge people now to post in the North West as they are getting better value - all those related threads added in as a bonus :D

    All clear once more :)

Ah, it's moved to the bottom of each thread now. I assume that this is part of an improvement from BoardTracker? Like the 'similar pages' links you have on some websites?

Exactly - enjoy! (Sorry about the previous mess up, I put it in the wrong template).

Looks good, except for being hard to read (Classic theme). Any chance of having the background colour lightened? Or have it follow the same colour conventions as the in-post colours.

    Yes, fixing...

would something like the below be possible?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,077 ✭✭✭parasite

using the green theme, the background of the related threads box is black ...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,049 ✭✭✭Cloud

Fixed green, let us know of any other problems. REACTOR - no, I don't think so :)

    Deadly, I like.

Looks fine and unobtrusive, but...... some of them are not very related to the thread being viewed.
I was reading a thread in the Broadband forum speculating about future speed increases and got:
    Related threads.
Pedo caught with his pants down (May 06):D
    4 about M** legal proceedings:confused:
    Speed camera, I think I was caught:p

Can't always be right, can it? ;)
There probably was some connection there though, c'mon admit it - speed probably?

while relevancy might be further enhanced in the future, it does sometimes get relevant related threads, doesn't it?
And anyway, didn't toy want to get to the thread about Pedo caught with his pants down?? :D

Aye, relevancy seems way off on any of them I've seen...

Pedo caught with his pants down (May 06) <---that one seems to be quite popular actually...

A bit rough on it, no? :) or did you mean the Pedo pants down example? :D

    Some other examples..
    for this thread I see:
    > Threads regarding Import Duty/Tax 10:55 5-May-06
    > Threads on house prices, etc 18:12 18-May-06
    > blog threads by users and blog ads 10:16 27-May-06
    > track of placed threads 13:32 9-Jul-06

Thread about threads (threads regarding... / threads on...). would you say relevancy is way off?

For some of the latests posts of the forums here..

    For "Anime in reland"
    > Anime Music Radio Programme Special 14:44 15-Jun-06
    > Looking for a new series, recommendations wanted. 21:05 31-Jul-06
    > Steampunk Anime 01:03 10-Aug-06
    > Ireland to get 4G Mobile Soon (allegedly) 23:31 4-Sep-06

    for "3D street art"
    > fresh art online 15:16 26-May-06
    > Street Fighter Alpha Anthology 18:02 22-Jul-06
    > Fine art photography 22:01 28-Jul-06
    > Art results?? 15:52 15-Aug-06
    > Street Performers in Dublin (C&C) 22:55 1-Sep-06

for "Best way to audio capture"
    > Best Ever Country and Western Songs 14:41 3-Aug-06
    > Connecting multiple audio sources to a single mini-system 13:27 9-Aug-06
    > Detecting audio codec 11:28 27-Aug-06
    etc...

I am sure there will be cases where shown threads will be irrelevant.
But I hope it's the exception rather than the rule. Isn't it so?

Just noticed an error at the bottom of each page.

    http://82.49.198.142/safaritest/1158181982-full.jpg

[edit] Above pic is around 800KB, so 'tisn't dial-up friendly.
