I was trying to get into a company for the last four months was told I was going to be offered a position then the company turned there back on me and hired me.

    Thanks in advance:)

Have you registered with FAS for the apprentiship? Also, check out http://jobbank.fas.ie as it sometimes have those apprentiships advertised.

I'd prefer to get on the job training as I don't want to be sent to the other side of the country for a few months with fas for the theory aspect of the apprentiship.

If I could do all the fas training within a reasonable travelling distance from athlone I would but there is no way they would let me. Also a lot of companies I have got in contact with dont want any apprentices at all.

No offense, but I doubt they'd hire someone for a skilled job, that knows nothing about it. As for "other side of the country", well, it depends. Sometimes yes, sometimes it could be your local one, depending on demand.

No offense taken caus you don't realise that I actually know a serious amout about that skilled job. I just haven't ever fitted a kitchen. I know all the in's and out's of making one though. Also you have not seen any of my work. If you would like to drop me a pm and I'l email me you up pics of work that I have done and also I have city and guilds in cad! so that's an added bonous to any company that designs there own kitchens as well!

Yes. There may be a FAS college nearby that will take you on. If you have to travel, you may get financial assistance to get there.

Ah. Here's the thing: do you have any sort of portfolio? Pictures, etc of past work? If so, did you include them in your application to the jobs? I'd say they'd look more favorable on your application if you showed examples of your work, rather than just saying "I can make sh|t, man, so gimme the job".
