I have been off the bike seen for a few years now. I use to have 3 years no claim but thats about 3 years ago so they are no longer valid.

    I am looking at NSR 125, Hornet 250 , Bros 400 and CBR 250.

All I got is a provisional licence will I get a resonable quote and does anyone know what groups these are?

    I'll be 25 in 2 months.

    Thanks for any advice

No unfortunately CN (at any rate) scratch it after 2 or 3, not like car insurance where it remains valid up to 5. con job of course.

    Hornet 250 is group 6
Bros 400 and CBR250 are both group 5
Dunno about the NSR 125 soz, think a restricted 125 ('02 onwards) is only group 2

Hold out till your 25 for the insurance quote, 300e min. saving.. as for the quote... um, I'd reckon 2400+, though thats just out of my head (much the same way they make up their quotes). Best way is to ring both companies (CN and Aon) and play one of the other.

(all those groups are Aon ones btw)

Thanks guys, I rang CN today and yes they will not accept my no claim and gave me a quote for 1973 on a Hornet 250, it seems quite steep. She said that this is a group 8 insurance.

    Its quite high.

I'll ring around in the morning and see, but if a cbr 250 is group 5 then it should be a little better.

Oh the girl on the phone could not tell me what groups these bikes are but next year she said that they will have a House + car + bike insurance which would suit me great.

They've been saying that for years now. It be nice if it happened. But the need a insurer to do both. But none will. Plus it would mean your NCB/driving expeance would have to count both ways. Still though, that quote, was it done as if you where 25 or 24? But I have to say, it seems right to me. Well by right I mean, what they will charge you.

:o must be the full license I guess

    2560e for a 23 year old (me), with a provisional, for a cbr125r (first bike, group 3)

That said though, CN wouldnt even quote me with no noclaims either (one aboves with Aon)

    hornet is group 6 wit Aon, cbr250 group 5, cbr125r group 3

No that was a quote for today(24 with provisional licence). The only thing is that I've moved out to the sticks (westmeath) this week so that could be a difference too and milage up to 3000 miles.

I'll ring them in the morning and see whats up. I'll post a few groups up if I get them as they seem to be changing

Similiar situation myself a few months ago with a Bros. AON quoted €3300 for 24 with provisional in dublin. CN wouldn't quote me under 25 without a NCB, despite the fact I would have been 25 two months later.

Was checking out bros around dublin and got talking to Joe at JP motorcycles on pearse st. He had a chat with a guy in CN and got them to quote me; €1900.

Someone else mentioned classic insurance, but there are a few requirement for it, ie: at least 1 year NCB and a full license.

sorry boys'n'girls, car ncb runs out after 3 years too.

My wife lost all her NCB - 16 years worth - whilst off bikes having 2 kids in 3 years.

    Thanks, CN.

don't you need a full licence for a year before you can get classic insurance?

I was just gone 25 had a provisional and got insured for 1350TP on a CBR250 from CN, it was 600 cheaper than Aon
    Oh yeah No NCB
