    Hi,

I am getting married this Friday and have just found out that the person we had lined up to do the photography has taken ill and is unable to do it. It's a friend who is semi-professional and does a fair few weddings.

I'm going to ring around local photographers tomorrow to see if they can do it.

Would anyone here be interested in doing it or know of someone I could contact ?

all suggestions welcome !! I'm in Co Kildare.

Kinda off topic. but are wedding photographers expect to dress formally? Like a suit etc.

    No not really.

I dont take shots at weddings but I sing at them on a regular basis and the photographers are rarely 'dressed up'... smart to smart/casual not necc. a suit

I disagree. I work in a hotel and at all the weddings that have been held there the photographers are always dressed formally and always in a suit.

I think it depends on what part of the country you are in. I have rarely seen photographer in anything dressier than a shirt and trousers (in the male cases). some dont even bother with ties.

Personally, I think they should wear suits... but in practie, they dont always.

One way is to make sure you specify the dress code when you book your suppliers. After all it's your money...

I have never been to a wedding where the photographer was wearing anythin other than a suit & tie!

I have, and it does reflect the quality of the photos.

If a photographer isn't interested in dressing to suit the occasion and all...

    (That's my opinon anyways)

Unfortunately I have been to more weddings than iv had hot dinners... (oh sigh how i hate weddings), and granted the photographer has been the same in cases but they dont always make the effort. They should (IMO) but dont always. [btw I only have experience at seeing the photographer at the church, i always toddle off once im done with my lalala-ing]

I agree with Al, bad reflection! The singer dresses up, why cant they :) Afterall we are all there to do a job

Maybe Scargill could let us know if his new photographer shows up in & suit or not & then share a few of the photographs with us??

If he wears a suit & the photographs are good then we have "proof" for the theory!!:D

I remember reading an interview with a female wedding photographer once, I'm pretty sure she wore black trousers and a top and one of those photographers vest things, sounded a bit ninja style... but she was doing ninja reportage style photography, I suppose.

This thread is beginning to drift inti the realm of satire, Tie does not = well dressed. Some of the best wedding photographers I know wear a cravat. ;)
Anyone with any serious artistic leanings would never wear a shirt and tie , surely? :p

I totally disagree that if a photographer doesnt wear a suit or get dressed up for a wedding then he will take bad photo's.

I do agree however that they should make the effort to be dressed smartly. All the weddings I have attended over the years, every one wore a suit which I think is more than acceptable.

I think the consensus is that somebody who knows how to take and process good pictures can do so regardless if you are in a suit or completely naked. But you are selling yourself so you should dress accordingly.

the last wedding I was at I saw the photographer arrive and he had a jacket and tie rolled up in a ball in his glove box. He unfurled them when he arrived and put them on going in the gate. The tie had a knot in it similar to my old school tie that wasn't opened in 5 years !! Not really sure why he bothered - as long as you are not in torn t-shirt and jeans I dont think it matters a great deal ?

I'll make sure to get a photo of my photographer and let you judge for yourselves !!
