i bought an exercise ball over the weekend and now i cant get it blown up. its one of the big ones, like in the gym. and as for instructions there arent any except to say dont blow it up completly in one go-blow it up half way leave 24hrs and then finish it.

as for the pump they provided well.......

its basically a foot pump but the tube that goes from the pump to the ball isnt very long so the tube keeps coming out of the hole, not to mention the fact there is hardly any air going in to the ball so it is taking ages to blow up

    anybody any ideas???

If theres air going in get someone to hold the ball so the tube doesnt disconnect. Good workout for your legs anway! did ya buy it in argos? im considering getting one in there but was weary of the quality

I ended up having to blow up 2 for people, with crappy pumps. The reason being "oh I would be too tired to do that myself", an exercise device yet they refuse to do a bit of exercise to get it pumped up!

If you hold it between you legs at the start you should be able to hold it steady, wear some rubber gloves while putting the pump nozzle in, this will allow you to force it in further with the better grip. When it gets going lodge it between 2 kitchen chairs.

It should have a size rating, e.g. 55cm diameter. Push it up against the wall and stick the other side up against a straight edge, like a stool, then measure out 60cm from the wall and put the stool there. Now when the ball is lodged between the 2 it is at 60cm. When you pull the nozzle out you will lose some air and it will be back to 55cm.

I got one from argos a year ago and I'm happy with the quality. My ma actually bought it for my sister but she never used it so I took it for myself. Its only a 65cm diameter which is a wee bit small for me but all in all its a worthwhile purchase. I use it for bench presses and other exercises that you can substitute the bench with a ball and it works great.

Here's the easy way I use when I have a class of 30 ppl and I need to blow up a lot of balls fast - head down to your local garage - air pump for 3 secs and you're done. Just don't over do it, or BOOM! ;) As regards exercise on the ball you can get a great intro to stability ball training with animated exercise guides in my free e-book. Just follow my sig link at the bottom. Enjoy.:)
