Vampires?

Specifically, does anyone know of any reason to believe they exist in demonic form. From my (admittedly somewhat superficial) researches, I think the answer to be no. Explanations for how something might be mistakenly identified as having been of vampiric origin are entirely plausible and people who call themselves vampires today seem to have not read their histories on the subject before adopting their goth make-up and plastic fangs.

But there is a netherworld of demons, surely (he said trying desperately to sound like he hasn't got all his intel from Buffy and Angel). Christianity for one demands it. Can vampires really be so far-out?

Well a lot of the current vampire mythos can be directly traced to works of fiction.

But a lot of different cultures from around the would have similiar stories of blood sucking creatures in their myths and folklore and even the Chinese have their Hopping Corpses which suck the breath out of you.

I think alot of characters like vampires take something from "reality" be it normal or paranormal, but these are added to constantly by modern culture.

When you look at it over several cultures you see the different interperations of what are possibly the same entities.

Do vampires exist? Maybe but very possibly not as we know them.

So, basically, we can discount everything from Pollydori to Buffy. Chances are most vampire attacks were deaths by misidentified causes and examples of the living dead are more properly examples of live burials.

    well, that's a bit of a blow.

    Thanks, guys.

Well first we have to look at what a vampire is and its characteristics. There are also what people call psychic vampires though imo that is an overly dramatic name which leads peoples minds on a bit of a crazy.
