Just reinstalled windows xp on my laptop after installing a new harddrive (last one died)

The resolution is stuck at 640 x 480 and the colour quality is 15 bit.

Any idea how i can change the resolution because everything on the screen is so big!

Reinstall your video card drivers that came with your PC (if you have them, if not then download them from the laptop manufacturers website).

Install a graphics card driver/monitor driver. Whichever is flagged in your device manager.

Id say that nearly all the drivers will need to be replaced. I dont think i have the CD's needed to reload the drivers.

My internet will not connect and i think it is cause the tcp ip driver is not loaded either?!? If i had internet connection could i directly load down all the necessary drivers from the device manager and if so where would i get a tcp ip driver?

You're missing the chipset drivers. Install them and then windows will be able to detect your video card, network card etc.

The chipset drivers are usually on the manufacturers website.

What is the make/model of your laptop? What kind of internet connection had/have you? TCP/IP would be setup automatically so you shouldn't need to install anything regarding that.

All the drivers you need are located here, including the ones for the devices you mentioned.

Install the drivers for each device. Then remove all the unknown devices in device manager and reboot.
