From browsing around it seems that Gigabytes newest boards such as the DQ6 and the DS4 are not compatable with alot of the popular DDRII manufacturers such as OCZ.

How the hell am I supposed to buy RAM for it if I dont know whats compatable, there is a small list of compatable Modules on the website but none that I can find on komplett or www.memory-configurator.com

I was going to buy 2GB of OCZ DDRII 6400 but then found out that people had to boot the mobo up on some other ram to change the voltages on the ram slots or something like that and then were able to boot with the OCZ.

Its not that the ram wont work, Whtat the story is. You need to use cheaper standard ddr2 to boot into the bios and change the memory settings and timings. Its a big problem atm the asus p5w has no problems with this.

Look up the gskill NR series, its available on memory-configurator (its the green 2gb PC6400 kit).

A gskill tech confirmed that it works with the DS3 board by testing 10 sets, I've since read from other people that this ram works fine with their DS3 boards and its the ram I'm going to get for mine.

I think the other gigabyte boards are pretty similar.

Probably the same, just with cherry picked chips.

I'll let you guys know if they work on wednesday or whenever stuff arrives.

I can borrow some Dell DDR-533 if I need to. It'd sure be a pain in the ass though...

I was specifically choosing ram that has been confirmed to work with DS3 boards.

I don't think the P5B is picky with it's ram.

The only problem you'll have is a hole in your pocket from spending too much money on RAM :p
