VMware workstation & MAC addresses

Today I installed XPSP2 within a virtual machine on my workmachine.
    I used a bridged connection.

Now, I was able to supply the VM with it's own computer name and static IP (all static IPs...no dhcp) and get it registered on our AD domain. Policies applied etc.

How does the layer 2 side of things work here?
I mean MAC adderesses etc. Since the VM is sharing my workstation NIC with, well, my workstation, would it not cause problems with say a hub on the local segment?

Just something that I was concerned about.
It's great though. I can test just about everything with the VM and restart all over again with the click of a button. Genius! :)
