I am looking to hire a decent car (Passat / A6 sized) for next weekend.

Apart from the usual Hertz, Avis etc .. does anyone know of other places to try?

My car was out of action about 2 years ago (Peugeot 607 Engine blew up after 25K miles) I hired 3 diff cars for some of the time from Dan dooley and found them to be excellent and great value, v helpful etc. They have an office beside Pearse St Dart and also can pick up leave back at the port in Dun Laoghaire or the airport

I'm related so I'm gonna recommend them too.

but aside from being related they're really good, should have a few E-Classes in the fleet.

ideally I need to pick up in the west of the city.

Dan Dooly was quoting me for a 'full size' car €89 for the weekend - was either a BMW 116i or Chevy Lacetti ? I don't get that. Anything bigger was hitting nearly €300 quid for the weekend .. as they are all autos!

Access have either a Mondeo or Laguna for about €95, not a bad price but
I want something a little bit nicer but there is a huge gap everywhere ... the next level up is over twice the price for a C180 auto.

another place quoted over €300 for a Sante Fe FFS.

    .

Most of them move as wedding family driven wedding cars, when my aunt married in, my dad drove the wedding car as part of the present.

They mostly cost 3 times as much as a lacetti so thats why they cost 3 times as much to hire, as well as the maintenence on them being more expensive.

You could always try ICR, also Limerick based, worked in one of their sales group showrooms for a while, they'd probably get you a Saab or Chrysler
