Why do they use this documentary style camera work in tv shows like 24 and battlestar galactica? I was never a fan of the former but the way the camera zoomed in jerkily and wobbled was additional reason for me to dislike it. And in the case of the latter, I was kind of enjoying it but this camera style totally ruined it for me. I just find it silly, why try to heighten realism through camera work youd normally see in documentaries or in reality tv shows? It just highlights the fact that its fiction moreso rather than disguising it as the camera work draws attention to itself. Plus the fact that they are trying to give the impression of realism in something that is pure fantasy seems silly.

Shakey Cam was invented in 1988 by a Channel 4 sunday show called Network 7 it was made for and by college age kids smacked out on Es, the makers just could'nt keep a steady hand and viewers needed constant movement to keep them from heading to the fridge.

    Then don't watch it?

I think it's cool, Firefly has the same kind of camera work, doesn't bother me.

Michael Bays "The Island", has annoying cam work, these TV shows are nothing, NOTHZING!
