I just got offered a place on an evening course in Photography & Digtial Imaging at NCAD ... follow this link for more information -

    http://www.ncad.ie/faculties/education/cead_pdi.shtml

I'm quite excited about the prospect to be honest ... back to college after a long absence ... this time it is for something I want to do ...with passion ... rather than boring career pragmatism that made me do Telecoms & Computers back in the 80's ... not that it has not given me a good living. :D

Apparently this is the first time this course has been run at NCAD ... Having never met another person from this forum face to face (something I would be happy to do some time when there is a get together, assuming you welcome us newbies along to your group therapy photo geek sessions )

... I was curious if any of the rest of you are doing the course ?? ... a long shot I'm sure ... but you have to ask !!

any opinions on the photography faculty at NCAD are also welcome ?

... The person you need to contact is Janet Robinson of CEAD on the number posted at the website.

The couse application process is now closed for this year ... there were 12 places and over 22 applications ... a portfolio was required and a panel of tutors picked from sucessfull applications using this process ...

Cost is - €1,275 plus €200 for materials.

    Course starts on 25th September.

Hope that helps ... sorry if it is bad news ... but this is the first time they have run this course ... so it may have some teething problems ...

Leinsterman got a reply back, the application date was 9th of august, looks like I missed the boat. Do you know the name of your tutor, I know a person working there Rhoda Cunnigham teaches some of the other photography courses, I might have a word with her see if I could get a cancellation if theres one, anyway looks like a good course, hope you enjoy.

to be honest I only barely made the deadline myself ... a friend passed me the web link two days before the deadline ... after a mad scramble to pull together my portfolio (including an eye opener of a session with a pro photographer friend where he tore me apart without any mercy, thankfully coz it obviously worked) ... I managed to get my application just under the wire ...

... up to that point I had not even considered NCAD for night time photography courses ... I was looking a Griffith College and having big reservations about it ...

That looks very cool. I'm considering doing that once my current course is done with...
