no its not the dolmen,(as much as i want it to be!!), its more to do with organistion, i feel that the room we have is too small, but tom thinks its just right, ce la vie!
but also we want to wait till the clubs and soc day is over to have a clear idea on numbers, also we are goin to become a soc aswell(yes, we know there is comp soc, baxterds!!), so come and join us!!

compsoc are baxterds because, they stole my idea b4 i got to college(LoL!).
i am regeristering the soc as a roamin LAN society and hopefully by christmas we'll move into console LANs(i.e xbox then ps2.....)i'll talk more about this to your woman in SU.....
wait till the morning!!then i'll tell you what the exact paramenter of this soc:D

Compsoc = Computer society.

Lans/Consoles/Gaming = Computers.
Why go to the bother of setting up a new society, advertising it, designing websites, emails etc. etc. etc. all while potentially competing with the 'other' compsoc, not to mention netsoc, when you could just as easily put this under the reigns of compsoc.

This is exactly the sort of thing compsoc was created for, only it was lacking the right person to do/organise it...

Still, what do I know, I'm just an avid gamer/lan'er/ex-president of compsoc and one heck of a guy.

Oh id really love another compsoc debate, it is very entertaining. In fact it was probably the last big issue on this board? Surely its about time it came around again? Fight fight fight fight fight!

Thats the game that nearly single handidly killed compsoc. I wasnt in it at the time, but everyone (or everyone but the 2 or 3 people who won every game) seemed to agree that it drove anyone else away. At least in games like CS:S and BF2, you have a chance of getting some kills against the better guys.

There won't be a big debate/argument about it this year, and hopefully it will go far smoother. Its gonna be on the 2nd floor this year, with the better pc's, so we plan on doing a few 64 man Battlefield 2 games going. There are some people who want to play rts's, and they can and will, but they will never have the following of the majority, so it will, more then likely, be BF2 and CS:S (with a few cs mods thrown in, like Gun Game and The Hidden)

screw let it go......this is as good as place as any to have a debate....
but in S TBM/LANs we'll AVOID the moajority being driven away by better players.....and have a good level playing feild...BF2 man, bf2!!

also xbox and the such, killeshin always sounds like a great place at 7 o'clock at night......nobody around.....mmmmm....see we're different

You werent there, but someone (presumably 'big steve') told you how it drove anyone else away, and thats the opinion you formed?

Compsoc grew that year, on the previous year and the year after it got even bigger... I really dont see this imagined issue, you are talking about

Oh, and the reason this is in this thread is because I suggested he just join compsoc and take advantage of the infrastructure thats already there.

I.e. the projector for consoles/movies/t.v. series, the prebuilt member list and the organisation already in place...

Simple as.

Having watched these debates as an outsider over the years it seems its a debate that will never die down. Computing is a broad topic with lots of niches, some more popular than others and imo the presidents role is to facilitate these niches under the Compsoc name.
