OK, limit yourself to the last 10 years, post your club team's worst XI (for extra points throw in a manager and 5 subs)

    Here's mine (Spurs):

    GK - Neil Sullivan

    RB - David Kerslake
    CB - Kevin Scott
    CB - Stuart Nethercott
    LB - Paolo Tramezzani

    RM - Jose Dominguez
    CM - Moussa Saib
    CM - Jason Dozzell
    LM - Willem Korsten

    CF - Gregorz Raziak
    CF - Gary Doherty

Subs: Kasey Keller, Justin Edinburgh, Ramon Vega, Andy Sinton, Sergei Rebrov.

    Manager: Glenn Hoddle

That was tougher than I thought, didn't realise how hard it would be to choose just the 16...

Neither of the keepers were particularly crap, its just that they were worse than any of the others we've had. Defence was a goldmine of mediocrity...:(

Thankfully the majority of these players didn't get to put on the black and white shirt that often. Honourable mentions go to Barton, Beresford, Elliott and Peackock for all playing a big part in KK's great team and Kenny Dalglish's CL team.

GK - Karolse?? (that Dutch fella Gullit signed who played in a 4-2 defeat at Soton)

    LB - John Berseford
    CB - Andy O' Brian
    CB - Marcelino
    RB - Warren Barton

    LM - Des Hamilton
    CM - Silvio Maric
    CM - Amdy Faye
    RM - Georgios Georgiados

    CF - Andreas Andersson
    CF - Stephane Guivarc'h

Subs: Diego Gavilan, Robbie Elliott, Darren Peakock, Daniel Cordone, Nicky Butt

    Manager: Graeme Souness

    No boumsong?

I cut him some slack as I believe his poor form was mostly down to his wife and kid being terminally ill.

Thats like putting Pele in a Worst XI at right back cos he's a crap right back!Surely if Centre back was his preferred position and he was decent there then he doesnt deserve to go there

The funny thing about Taibi is that after he left united he was ne of the most consistant keepers in europe for the next 4 years.

Not really though cause PELE NEVER played at right back, where as David May did for a season almost.

    Taibi(obvious choice really isn't he)

RB: P.Neville(Can't really think of a holocaust Right back that United had so Phill unfortunately fits the bill here)

    CB: Prunier - just crap

CB: Blanc - one of the worst players ever for Man Utd, only cause he was so past it.

LB: O'shea - Sometimes I wonder does he know how to play football

RM: Fletcher - Way below the standards that is required

CM: Miller - Never fitted into the Man Utd team and was just poor

CM: Djemba twins - so bad they named him twice

LM: Richardson - Yet another player who has somehow found himself in the first team depite being very ordinary

    CF: Bellion - : \

CF: Forlan - brought us a few classic moments, but for 95% of the time was rubbish.

SUB1: Bosnich - off the field problems and just meh

SUB2: Kleberson, played out of position and couldn't settle

SUB3: Veron, pissed me off hugely

SUB4: Evra - 1 or 2 good performances but hasn't done the business yet

SUB5: Jordi - didn't live up to the hype

    Manager: Alex Ferguson :D

the manu fans have seriously short memory. ManU have had alot of bad players recently but no matter what popular opinion suggests, fletcher, evra, fortune, o'shea and blanc certainly don't deserve to be in the WORST XI. Jeez even phil neville is in there. And Veron wasn't too bad, but for the inflated price tag and only spending a limited time there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,604 ✭✭✭herbieflowers

Yeah idon't understand Veorn's inclusion tbh, he scored some great goals, played well but was just a lazy ass! Not THE worst by a long way...

Ruskie it is for only the last 10 years or thereabouts.

My selection has a few questionable selections.

    Almunia
    --Cygan----Grimandi
Stepanovs---Hoyte(I hope last wk was a once off)
    --Helder---Song
    Garde
Selley---- (a bit longer then 10years ago

    Aliadiere
    Quincy

Stewart Houston - as Manager ( a lot longer then 10 years, but couldn't pick Wenger, or even Rioch - who did manage to buy DB10).

Every ones entitled to their opinion. Personally I like Veron as a player but during his spell at utd he was overrated. He did have some decent performances but. Simon Davies may be a replacement but I'm sticking with Veron for now.

but worst XI? What about Ben Thornely?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,482 ✭✭✭RE*AC*TOR

    Ah yes. This old chestnut.

    Pegguy Arphexad

    Gregory Vignal----Dominic Matteo---Phil Babb---Josemi

    Michael Thomas--Bernard Diomede---Bruno Cheyrou---Nunez

    Morientes
    Diouf

I know some of the postions are screwed - but them's the crappiest players I could think of.

ah sure we'll stick in Chris Casper, Robbie Savage,Terry Cooke, Micheal Clegg, Luke Pilkington.

United had alot of young guys that didnt make it, as for Prunier I think he signed (trial) in 1995 (11 years ago - I think anyway) and played two games at home to QPR (where he played well) and then that disaster at Spurs in the league cup.

going on players that played more than 5 games (minus Taibi ya have to stick him in, if not Bosnich) I think my line up is okay. Maybe a bit harsh on Phil Neville but who else played at RB except him Irwin, O Shea, Brown and Gary??

If we are going to be pedantic, the first 11 would be full of 11 players who never made it past the under age team...........

    Agreed

Everyone is so anal and opinionated. Put up your own team and stop disecting everyone elses, God it's only tongue in cheek after all.

Erik Meijer was a total legend. Just got edged out when Hesky arrived.

Kvarme wasn't great but there were far worse - he definetly gave his all.

I thought John Scales was ok too. Perhaps it was Phil Babb making him look good.

Melions 11 is hard to beat except for John Scales. Stick in Jimmy Carter (who was a right sided MF)

What about the legend that is Jean Michel Ferri for Liverpool? Despite being somewhat popular with the fans too I though Titi Camara was not a good player, and deserves to be in these teams ahead of Meijer or even Morientes, despite his hugely disappointing spell.

Jean Michel Ferri was never employed to play Ged simply bought him in to spy on the squad and see who was likely to be loyal to him when he took over.
