Looking to beef up my system a bit. Do you think the following are worth the money and will I get a noticable difference?

    - From an AMD Athlon 64 1.8GHz 512k cache to AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+ (2 GHz 512k cache) Cost ~ €170

    - From 1GB ram to 2 GB ram, Cost ~ €115

    - From 6600GT to 6800GT, Cost ~ €240

So which AMD dual core hits the sweet spot for performance v cost? Or what about adding another 6600GT in SLI mode instead? Thanks for your opinions

Dont think the gpu upgrade would be worth it really. Have a look at this guide: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/index.cfm?a=wiki&tag=rmp_vds
    6600gt sli would be faster

If i were you i'd go for a 7600gt or something similar, would be faster than both options.

You'd notice a nice difference with a processor & ram upgrade.

Dont bother with the graphics upgrade, as adding another 6600gt in sli will be better then a 6800gt another 6600gt is about 150€. For the cpu upgrade if i was you i would move into the x2 4000+ or faster. overclockers.co.uk are selling 4600+'s for 79.99 atm, but they are limited so buy quick. No real need for the ram unless you use dreamweaver or flashmx or cubase or similar. Then sell your old cpu for like 50€ on www.adverts.ie and get a new new cooler for ya cpu and overclock a bit :)
