Charlton have boosted their squad ahead of the August transfer deadline with the recruitment of yet another international in the shape of Senegal star Souleymane Diawara.

The Addicks have snapped up the central defender from French Championnat side Sochaux for €5.5m (£3.712m) - the fifth highest signing in the club's history.

Addicks head coach Iain Dowie said: "Souleymane is a player I've long identified as a top defender.

Rather than having a load of threads of who's going where I thought maybe the last 48 hours of this transfer window merited its own thread, if the mods don't agree apologies please delete.

    So Far:

Villa have signed Petrov for £6.5m
Boro have Loaned Woodgate for a season and signed Huth for £6m
    Gravesen has signed for Celtic
Charlton have signed Senegal international Souleymane Diawara for £3.7m
    Mido is back at Spurs

Plenty more to come I'm sure

Appareantly (just read on another website) Spurs just got Chimbonda and Malbranque. I find it too hard to believe.

Mascherano and Tevez set to join - west ham!!

MSI (company who owns most of the two players) have apparently set a 1 year loan deal with the hammers, lucky feckers!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 720 ✭✭✭justfortherecor

Man, if they pull that off that would be amazing. Audacious from West Ham, thats a serious bit of business. 2 world class stars on loan, fair play to them.

Question is, are West Ham doing the bidding or are MSI just doing a favour for their friends at Stamford Bridge?

If West Ham pull this 1 off fair dues to them! Christ they could push for the Champions league with those 2 in there side. It will be fun to see how this goes over the day.

Yea West Ham becoming Chelsea's feeder club is really good for football. Fair dues to them.

Ok, so maybe they should turn down Tevez and Mascherano, they'll do better that way will they?

West Ham have pulled off the biggest shock of all, those two players are real quality and will improve their squad big time.

No they will be good signings for West Ham in the short term but surely everyone can see the damage it will do football if it turns out that there are sinister motives or another premiership club behind the move.

No disrespect to West Ham but does anyone honestly bvelieve that West Ham is the chosen destination for either of these playeres ? As for going for a year to prove themselves is a joke. No legit company would take such a risk with valuable assets for no gain. Both these players would sell now for top dollar ,

Why risk them flopping in the premiership and being devalued in a years time? The deal stinks.

A United Fan complaining about the abuse of an other clubs power...
    Pot calling kettle black.

United have been doing it for years. When the shoe was on the other foot now is not the time to complain.

Fair play to West Ham for pulling it off.

You won't be saying that when they stuff Arsenal twice this season.

LOL Arsenal could well be the victims here if the rumours are true not United but that does not alter my view.

Still Fair play to west Ham ??

United will still be unveiling their signing later on .;)

Teves and Mascherano don't even like each other according to a Brazilian on newstalk last night. They won't be happy being in the same team again. :)

Shabani Nonda looks set to join Blackburn on a 1 year loan with an option to buy. Great deal imo, not sure how he's performed at Roma, but he was fantastic at Monaco. Very good replacement for Bellamy and with the fact that its a loan, not much to lose.

If they do unveil anybody, it's going to be Trezeguet. And probably on a loan deal.

Deal of the day/summer/decade has to be Southampton getting money for Ricardo Fuller.

Fuller out, Idiakez in, not a bad swap by any means!

Edit: Not sure if this has gotten a mention yet, but Andy Cole to Pompey!

Just shows how crazy the transfer window is. 3 of our players have to leave the squad 2 days before a crucial qualifier:mad:
Unwanted disruption for Staunton, but what can he do? The powers that be don't have a clue. The timing of this transfer window is ludicrous!

Transfer window is the same time as last years, and the year before...

Maybe its the international calendar thats the problem?

I suppose you could look at it that way too, but remember there have always been internationals at this time of year for as long as I can recall and the transfer window was only introduced in the last 3 years. The timing is ridiculous. The decision makers haven't a clue.

Routledge moves the other way on a one-year loan deal.

Real Madrid's Brazilian Julio Baptista has apparently been targeted while Spurs have been pursuing Middlesbrough's Stewart Downing, and Pascal Chimbonda. Plus, could Jermain Defoe be leaving?

Kristoffer Haestad (FM Legend) could be on the way to Blackburn.

Keane and Kav were best mates in the Ireland camp. It was Kavanagh who Keane handed the captains armband against China. Good signing for Sunderland.
