when doctors find nothing wrong

In relation to my previous thread BURNING EYES..Specialists have found little and in some cases nothing wrong. Yet my disability has greatly restricted my life...and the discomfort is very real...If I do apply for a disability allowance or special dispensations...how can I convince authorities of my needs when doctors are unable to diagnose. My friend often goes a week without going to the toilet and doctors find nothing wrong...people have died when doctors found nothing wrong.. The usual reaction from specialists is that if they can find nothing wrong that I must be imagining it...which is very frustrating...my eyes even go red...which is clear for all to see...I would be grateful if anyone could offer advice. Sincere thanks to all who take time to care. Alan 27

Alan, I don't think there was any need to start this thread as your last post was almost identical. I also think you are going a little over the top and there is no need to refer to your friend and their problems as they are not relevant to your case.

This forum, as I pointed out in your other thread, is not here to provide medical advice. If you are unhappy with your doctor's treatment then go to a new doctor, you're under no obligation to stay with them.

Did you investigate the possibility of special lenses as I suggested in your other thread?

It appears to me that you need to explore more options with regard to your problem and not be so quick to dismiss the possibility of working in your chosen field so easily.

Apologies if I transgressed any boundaries...and although it isn't obvious through written media I wrote the text with a calm disposition...I accept that this may not have appeared so. I didn't intend to turn this into a medical forum, the point I seek to make is that lot's of people have problems which doctors fail to diagnose...probably a great number of people on this forum...so it should be a topic which interests others.. I was seeking help in how to explain this to relevant bodies. In terms of giving up? I have been to several highly respected opthalmic surgeons and am continuing my education having spent 5 years years previously at university...I haven't and won't give up...the obstacles as for many people can be testing...but no I don't give up. I will be making enquiries about your advice in the days ahead and I am grateful for them. Thanks for making Boards a great forum. Best wishes, Alan
