Salou in mid September

I just booked a late deal for a week in Salou in mid September with my girlfriend. I have heard good and bad things so I'll make up my own mind!
I'm just wondering what it's like in mid September. I am hoping there will still be some people around, and that its quite but not too quite if you know what I mean!
Is the weather still good there that time of year?
We are both in early 20's so would love to know some places to go drinking eat etc.
Also is it cheap in Salou or what type of price is it for food and drink etc?
    Any advise appreciated, thanks

Best way to get to barca is by train...takes about an hour. It's the usual thing, local beer is cheap but everything else is not too different from home to be honest, you just have more money to spend so you don't take much notice.

Go into the spanish bars and visit the old town. And of course Port A Ventura.

Try getting up to Tarragona, its about €20 from Salou in a taxi, great city, a hell of a lot cheaper and nicer than salou, i think from memory they have a festival on mid to late Sept. Bullfighting, pyramid building( think of the playstation ad!!) this crazy game where a crowd of people line up in front of the town hall and have to stop a guy on a biiiigggg horse getting into the building , crazy stuff!!

I thought it was about 1hr 30mins to Barcelona by train when we were there. Maybe theres fast and slow trains. I think we missed the express one alright. Tarragona is definately worth a trip, at least the old part. Its about 30mins by train. Trains are very cheap and punctual. Salou was quiet when we were there, prefered it that way to by honest. The place is full of bars and clubs. Usual tat. Theres an Irish bar there that was ok, serves food etc. Its a typical seaside resort. Nice beach though. Port A Ventura was a laugh for a day. Day was enough for use though. 15mins by train.

There are public buses running along the seafront. One of them serves Tarragona fom Cambrils/Salou. Another one goes up to Reus(20 mins from Salou). Reus is worth a visit, as is Cambrils.
