Picking up someones signal by mistake???

    Is it possible to pick up a neighbours wireless signal by mistake????

    It's quite easy to pick up on a neighbours wireless signal. Espec in an apartment complex. But if you start using it without their permission, you can't really classify it as a mistake.

    Dont know if its still the case, but at one point windows was configured to connect to any available network by default.

    Still is, you must manually prioritise the network to your requirements. If Windows had a better signal with a rouer, it would throw that to the top of the priority list

    Are you sure about that nevf?

    Windows will configure a NIC to use DHCP by default, so if you connect it to a network witha DHCP server, it'll acquire an IP address, gateway etc. etc.

    But will it prioritise the strongest wireless network signal?

    I'm not so sure - but I'm no expert on wireless.
